October 27: E-league has moved!
|
|
Thanks to some political crap going on at the Dojo, E-league has moved
to http://www.e-league.org. In protest of
the Dojo's poor handling of this important Magic resource, I am featuring this link
here in case you have trouble finding E-league. Please update your bookmarks.

October 3: The Legion Site is Shifting Focus...
|
|
The Legion has undergone upheaval in the past
year, with many changes in the membership. Our current membership is pretty
stable for the meantime, although sadly most of our members appear to be
pursuing life away from Magic.
Manuel Bevand is conscripted to the French Civil Service for five more
months, so his access to Pro Tours and playtesting have been considerably pinched.
Cathy Nicoloff abandoned playing Standard in disgust during the Combo Winter, and now she has to face the
senseless loss of many beloved cards (like Triskelion) from Extended. This has dampened her enthusiasm for even the
activity she loves most : building decks. Daniel Brickwell is still pursuing his
degree, with little time for play. Victor van den Broek is also pursuing studies
in the Netherlands, but thankfully has such an exuberant personality that he has
actually been able to maintain the most interest in Magic out of all of us. Both
Autrijus Tang and Federico Dato have been valuable contributors in the past,
but the mailing list has gone silent lately and I suspect that they and everyone else
are just in need of a good sabbatical.
To honor this shift in team focus and also to bring this lengthy narrative to an
end, I am hereby announcing a change in this website as well. The Research Center
will be removed, simply because there are so many Magic sites out there that keep up with
it much more diligently. This site will become again what it always intended to be :
a site that archives the achievements, original decks, and writings of our members. Through
this site, we hope to educate our visitors about our philosophy, our style, our
successes, and our international viewpoint. Thanks for stopping by!

September 3: Pro Tour DC
|
|
Team Pro Tour DC is underway, with unfortunately very little Legion
participation. Most of our members are spread too far apart to come together for
qualifiers and testing.
Despite all that, I'm officially backing Team Les Lapins Bleus,
which contains Legion friend Nicolas Labarre
and two of his hometown buddies. Good luck to them!
Coverage of PT DC can be found at The Sideboard
and The Magic Dojo.

August 17: Nobody builds decks any more!
|
|
Well! I just got done adding the photos from 1999 to the site archives,
you can find them in the Photos
section.
Sad to say, but the updates to this site have been like this for a while.
This is because my teammates never remember to send me decklists so I can
post them! If you see the boys online, please hassle them to
give up their extended, standard, and Urza's Block decks so that I can put some
fresh content in here.
I snuck in a few decklists to the Research Center
from the legion_public mailing list during this update, as well. Enjoy!

July 11: European Championships results!
|
|
Three cheers for Legion member Raphael Levy,
who played Hatred, a broken draft deck, and a really horrible draft deck to
4th place in this year's European Championships. Raphael lost in the semifinals
to Norway's Nicolai Herzog, who won the event.
Raphael also
narrowly beat Sweden's Mattias Jorstedt in the quarterfinals. Mattias
was playing drake.dec, which is my guilty secret, since I gave him an early bad
copy of my Iridescent Drake deck several weeks ago. Mattias made a great job of
tuning it to Europe's metagame, but fortunately Raphael still beat him in
the end, and I didn't accidentally contribute to a teammate's demise.
Legion Standings at the 1999 European Championships:
4th - Raphael Levy
27th - Daniel Brickwell
112th - Manuel Bevand
124th - Victor van den Broek
I hope everyone had a good time playing!
