My team and I playtested against alot of white weenie, Red Green Vinyard decks, necro bolt, 5 color burn decks and red-blue white tongoish decks. I and my friend Dave played the folowing deck: 4 Counterspell 4 Force of Will 4 Impulse 4 Lightning Bolt 4 Wildfire Emissary 4 Frenetic Efreet 4 Suq'ata Firewalker 2 Waterspout Djinn 2 Serrated Arrows 2 Earthquake 2 Control Magic 4 Wastelands 4 Volcanic Islands 9 Islands 7 Mountains Sideboard: 4 Hydroblast 4 Havoc 2 Pyroblast 1 Earthquake 1 Control Magic 3 Blood Moon The deck is made to be strong against all decks and after sideboarding, hose specific popular decks. Before sideboarding, white weenie has trouble with emmisary,and if they dont have crusade firewalker, after I sideboard 4 havocs usually slow them down so I can get my offense moving. The waterspouts are for a quick beatdown in the first game and are sideboarded out alot. Burn decks usually can't deal with all of my creatures being non-boltable and 12 counters after sideboarding. RWU and necro both die fairly quickly to a protected bloodmoon. Big creatures such as erhnam can pose a problem if a control magic is not drawn, but to tell you the truth I didn t see one erhanm all weekend. on to the rounds: I had my scrubby 1 bye so i sat around for an hour. 1-0, 2-0 2nd Round I played some guy with a 5CG 1st game I get out a frenetic that he can't kill and bolt or arrows all of creatures 2nd Game I go 1st turn bolt birds, 2nd Turn impulse, 3turn bloodmoon,4th turn arrows,5 turn arrows. Guess who won. 2-0 4-0 3rd Round Hayim from Las Vegas He was playing the golin bombardment deck: 1st game : I put aout some fast creatures and can counter enough of the combo to kill him fast enough. 2nd Game : 3rd turn bloodmoon backed by a force of will shuts him down completely. 3-0 6-0 4th Round Someone with a 4 color red texaco deck. 1st game I get out 2 emmisarrys and a watersout and kill him faster than he can. 2nd Game I draw like 3 hydroblasts 2 counters 2 force of wills 2 bolts and a lot of other control and kill everything he puts out. he was mana screwwed for a few turns so I could buildup my mana to out blast him. 4-0 8-0 5th Round: Someone Takenega with a mono red burn 1 st game I think I put out a firewalker that controls the board long enough for a waterspout to kill him. 2nd game I think he is mana screwed so I kill him fairly fast. 5-0 10-0 6th ROund: Ryan Fuller playing Black Red Necro I win the first game in a really close race between frenetics his necro and his creatures bolts and drains. 2nd game he wins with a big drain 3 game he wins with a big drain backed by a pyroblast. 5-1 11-2 I make the top 64 in 15 place. Day 2: Terry Don with white weenie with crusade First game I get out a firewlker and force his crusade to control the board by the time he can plow I counter and I play an emmisary for the kill. 2nd he kicks my ass with a bunch of preists and knights I didn't have any mountains but it didn't matter. 3rd game I get out a double havoc and bolt/arrow anything he plays. 6-1 11-3 Round 2 Someone Bautista playing slight knight. 1st. game we both kill anything each other play until I finnaly run him out of wraths and kill him with a Emmisarry. 2nd game. He gets a crusade and a repentant blacksmith and disenchants my arrows I put out 1 or 2 havoc emmmisary, firewalker and win the dammage race. 7-1 13-3 Mark Shick playing RWU Tongo. game 1 we both get out creatures and remove some of each others; he gets out a pst and starts whopping me with that I finally draw the bolt I need to kill him and do it when he taps out to make the last dude that will kill me. game 2 he draws 3 factories as his only mana and I play a blood moon and kill him with frenetics. 8-1 15-3 Someone playing Bombardment. 1st game he gets the combo off and I can't draw a second island. 2nd game a blood moon backed by force fo will comes in to play and he concedes. 3rd game is really close as I hydroblast bonbardmets 2 times both pyroed he has three spheres and has been impulsing like mad I have one counter and am sure he has the renewwal and a counter finally I play a spout with mana to counter and it kills him he couldn't get a renewal. 9-1 17-4 Round 11 Dan Clegg playing shadow armor with bolts and lands edge. 1st game he plays a preist and I play a frenetic; neither of us can kill the other, but the frenetic phases out a couple of times giving him a life lead. I could have won but I taped the wrong land to counter a armor or something and couldn't double bolt him during his discard to put him in quake range. 2nd Game I get double havoc and bolt his lancers counter his warbeasts and auras and kill him farily easally. 3rd game he gets an armored preist out to my emmersary and he wins cause I didn't draw a control magic. Round 12 I and Brett Quorn intentionally draw in to the top 8. the top 8 is: Dan Clegg 34 Points- Shadow armor/lands edge Ryan Fuller 29 Points- Black-Red Necro Brett or steve Shears 28 points- UG Vinyard Steve Aldrich (me) 28 Points- Red-Blue Control Brett Quorn 28 points- RWU Weenies,counters,bolt,f.ball,frenetic,control magic,tithe Cassey McCarrel 28 Points- White Weenie with crusade cursed scroll and piles Forgot name- playing scroll rack prision Forgot name playing some sort of burn deck. Qaurters against Brett Quorn: 1st game goes back and forth until he gets out a preist and somthing else the turn before I die I topdeck a quake to draw the game. 2nd Game I get a 3 turn blood moon and he can't do anything. 3rd game see game 1 without me drawing the quake actually I did but he was at 10 and I only had 9 mana. 4th game my opening hand is 2 mountains 2 impulse 3 force of will and II had chosen to draw so I kept it figuring I would draw an island soon to make a long agonizing story short I didn't draw the island all game actually I didnt even draw another land so I couldn't play a blood moon while he spanks me with white knights. well anyway I qualifed for LA won 400 bucks. got some free packs boosted my extended rating way higher and played some great games of magic over the weekend....
