I've been in a slump lately, but have still managed to qualify for most of the major tournements through previous accomplishments. (qua. for canadian nat.'s through ranking, and for pt chicago through junior top 32 in L.A., but messed up both due to my slump) Anyway i'm coming out of it, so here's what i can remember of the ptq- Arrive finding everyone minus Suver, Wilson, Herzog etc. etc. (in other words no one's there) The only decent americans i can see are Larry Chapfield and Eric Thompson. Looks like Canadians'll be stealing the spots again (not that we wouldn't be anyways) .I come down with Pete Radonjic, who's there for points and pety cash, Tsang (he's our ride) who's come for the option of going to Mainz, Shawn (an up and comer), there for the spot, and Mike, the judge. Ryan Fuller and T. Lau can't make it or don't have enuff insentive. I'm there for respect, points, and pety cash (don't have money for mainz - how does 250 bucks cover airfare to germany, or anything to do with germany for that matter) Deck registration time. Usually no big deal. Once each of us is finished, we head to a corner of the centre, where we talk about other stuff. (because we're not scrubs that talk all about the decks we reg.ed) Well, this is an exception.Tsang and i both find disks. Also, i get two boas, phantom monster, orc artillery, fireblast, fire storm helkite, X ball etc... Tsang reg's man o wars, undo, spout etc.. I get my deck back, Tsang doesn't, everyone else gets medeocre stuff. Now the tournement. Round one vs Ty Holcomb. Win game one. Don't finish game two. Only five rounds. Round two, three - mediocre stuff 2-0, 2-0. Round four, some guy with red hair (i keep forgetting his name) People tell me i should lose. He's an O.K. player with two man o' war, Hurricane, X ball , flooded shoreline, and two impulse. 2-0 in my favor. ROUND 5 4-0, win game one, look at the guy across from me and say to myself i'd rather draft with him then with chapfield. 1-2 So i go 4-1 with a 5-0 deck and we're in top eight. I look around to find Eric Thompson, and no Canadians, but me!!!! What's going on! I've got lots of experience in this style draft ( PT newyork) , so i have no problem (and two X, although i didn't need em' most of the games They could have been panics for all i care). Thompson and i both draft black red beatdown (i wanted black blue, but blue didn't come, and then the X) I get to the finals w\o much trouble, although one guy had an air elemental and a spout, and a bunch of gazbans n' boas.I see Thompson in the finals and we split the money down the middle. And that's that. Sorry about the poor details. Fifth ed sucks so much (despite my good luck, finnaaallllly).Here's my sealed sealed deck, not that it matters one bit. (just use it for kicks).
