Hello all. Along with Jeff Zandi and his wife Willa, fellow Guildmages Scot Martin, David Williams, and me, James Stroud, loaded up the zan van and headed up to OK. When we arrived, we saw a pretty small turnout. I registered deck # 60 but dont know how many people were there. I usually get the worst deck in the room, and have to play 4 colors and lose to the mana god. But Saturday, I had a real good red, white, and blue deck. I only had 14 creatures, but my other spells were solid. Round 1: Alan Keller First game we are pounding each other and I am going to kill him next turn with a undo, sandstalker, but he howls for 10 and kills me. Next game I play early creatures and then undo, man o war...strong. third game, see game 2 but add a 8 point disintegrate. I'm such a good player. match 1-0 games 2-1 round 2: Chris Brown I get good draws and rockslide, disintegrate, undo my way to a fast 2-0 match. match 2-0 games 4-1 round 3: Tim McCartney He is a good player with a bad attitude. I say I gossomer chains that, block that and block that. He says that since I said I gossomered before I said I blocked, that I passed my blocking phase. I was at 20 and it was only 2 pts, so I didn't argue, I just said whatever, and he got out a snake basket for 10 and a skull catapult. (gay) I lose game 1. second and third game I beat him down with a Zhalfirin Crusader, and a dancing scimitar. match 3-0 games 6-2 round 4: Dave Maxwell This was a really good match. I think I Pirate shiped him to death in the first game. The second game, the 3 cards in my graveyard were fireblast, disintegrate, and rock slide. I am such a good player... match 4-0 games 8-2 Round 5: draw with Darik Dvorshak. We are the 2 4-0's so we draw. At this point the 4 of us guildmages are 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. Booster draft had 3 of us guildmages. Scot, David, and myself. My first pack had a flood. I'm playing blue. I get passed 2 tims.. and a rock slide, ,,and a undo... really good. Quarters: Leanna Mckenny Really nice lady who seemed very nervous. I beat her down the first game. (i think she was land screwed..) Second game I am land screwed and she drops first turn Ghazban second turn river boa..she beat me down. Third game, I rock slide and serve. Semi's: David Williams Fellow teammate.. He is a really good player, and we talk a little trash and then get to it. Our decks were both really good. But I had a flood. That won me both games... I think he killed about 15 of my creatures with an ovinomancer. I did get a seasinger lock on him in the second game. (he couldn't play a creature, or I would take it.) It was all about the flood. Finals: Matt Bordaux This guy had an insane deck. He had just beat my teammate scot. Come to find out, this guy had about 20 fat green creatures, and 2 terrors. I get a flood in the first game, and draw about 10 islands in a row. I finally get out a cloud elemental, and win about 10 rounds later. Second game, he terror's, terror's, elven cache's, and terror's...(whatever) Third game, I get a god draw...1st round flood. 2nd round dandan. 3rd round suq'ata..4th round cloud elemental.5th round undo.6th round azure drake. Game, set, and match... so I'm off to Germany, and back on the Pro Tour... Props: My team. Jeff Zandi, James Jenkins, James Murphy, Scot Martin, David Williams, Cortney Cunningham, Tim Wakko Stoltzfus, and Myn Huyn(sp). I would also like to think Bryan Hubble and Cary Darwin, for advice here and there, appreciate it... Slops: wait for it... You can't have any slops, but you can have a warm glass of shut the hell up. good morning to you... james stroud jambuda@hotmail.com
