This is going to be my first tourny report... Well, how should i start... Anyways... the tournament was on the 25th of Oct. and about 40+ or more pple turned up... We played 7 rounds of swiss, sealed deck(5th/Vis) and then the top 8 play 5th/Vis. draft... This is my second sealed deck tournement i've been playing but i have been practicing with some of my fellow team mates ("team yo") Anyway on to the good stuff... My sealed deck... (think this is correct...) 9 islands 4 swamps 6 forests 1 coercion 1 crypt rats 1 wake of vultures 1 animate dead 1 ghazban ogre 1 hurricane 1 river boa 1 tin-wing chimera 1 undo 1 grizzly bears 1 man o war 2 breezekeeper 1 craw wurm 1 reef pirates 1 merfolk of the trident 1 azure drake 1 inspirations 1 betrayal 1 flood 1 recall 1 wall of air 1st Round vs Chris Foggin ( played him in the tempest pre-release... I was a bit scared of him coz we drew last time we played) 1st dual, All i can remember if that i got my flood on the table then started beat down with a few flyers then i was on 9 life and he was on about 11 life... I then coercion him and there was a fireball in his hand... (phew) i then killed him in about 2 turns later... 2rd dual i was mana screwed... i didn't take the mullgan (we played the new mulligan rule... 1 less card) because i had a flood in hand with my betrayal and 2 swamps and 1 forest and mostly other blue cards in hand... I died to his weenie rush... 3rd dual i had a good draw... Flood again in my opening hand with no mana screw !!! (flood rulz) I controled the board with my flood and eventually killed him with my flyers... :P 2nd round Vs nicholas spratt This was my only loss... Nicholas had a really top deck... 1st game we had and even amount of creatures on the table and we were both locked... i waited till i got a few more lands into play the attacked with all my creatures and hurricaned... 2 dual was also very close also... we both had two creature on the table and we both we on low life... he then cast undo... and killed me... 3rd dual i didn't see many of my creature but too many of his... then finally his watersprout Djinn and Arch angel hit the table... I had no answers for them and died... I also heard from other pple that he had a shivan dragon in his deck too... :( 3rd round Vs Grant Mitchell (great guy... and equaly good player) 1st dual... i can't remember this match that well but all i remember is that i won the 1st, lost the 2nd and then won the 3rd. I think we just could handle all my flyers... I keep drawing flyers after flyers the first round. second round i also put in my dream tides which was in my SB but he emerald charmed it... :( he had a good defence... and then attacked me with his killing bees (killer bees) 3rd round i smashed him with flyers... 4th round Vs Adam Williams 1st dual i bashed him with my island walking river boa and just held off his creature with my flyers and flood !!! 2nd Dual my opponent was wana screwed... But that happens :) i commenced beatdown... later he asked my how many land i put in my deck and i replied 19... He was suprized and then i asked him how much land he had in his deck and he said 16 !!! no wonder he go mana screwed... his deck was 41 cards too (i table shuffled him and counted) 5th round Vs Gerrard Fong (beat me in the finals of an eastwood T2 tournament) 1st Game i get heaps of flyers and beat him down... 2nd dual i beat him down with my weenies to 8 life then he just kept pulling more creatures then me... I had a hurricane in hand and i was thinking of getting a draw but i didn't know why i didn't. he then commenced beatdown on me.. :( 3rd dual was over fast... I got a second turn river boa which he couldn't handle... i just sat back with my fatties and beat him down with my boa... 6th round Vs Neil Crighton (i need this win then next round i can Id and make the top 8) I keep drawing creatures after creature the 1st round and kill him... Second round i had 6 land and a ghazban and for some stupid reason i kept my hand... Neil played a land and was done... i drew a card and i was another land... i play a 1st turn ghazban hoping to get weenie beatdown and hope to draw better stuff later... but my next few cards are all land too... he also get's a 2nd turn fallen askari then 3rd turn python... For some stupid reason i just attacked with my ghazban instead of blocking his next attack and he commenced beatdown on me with my ghazban and his other creatures.... :( Third dual i get a mana curve thing going... 1st turn merfolk of the trident second turn boa third turn reef pirates and then he cast two creature which i then undo... :) i later cast a breezekeeper then continure my beatdown... 7th Round Vs Eric Lawson We both agreed to Id then meet in the finals... I came 3rd in after swiss and won some starters and boosters.... We then went to play booster draft 5th/Visions... I thought i drafted the deck to win but i lost in the semi finals... This was the deck i drafted... 1 fireball 2 tar pit warriors 2 ironclaw orcs 1 rockslide 1 pyrotechnics 2 sabertooth tigers 2 ambush party 1 fallen askari 1 python 1 scathe zombies 1 drudge skeletons 1 crypt rats 1 aku djinn 2 goblin hero 1 frozen shade 1 songs of blood 1 fireblast 1 bird maiden 9 mountain 9 swamp 1st round Vs Eric Lawson I thought my deck was fast but eric's deck had a very fast mana curve... all his creature had banding/first strike and other nifty abilities... he beat me down with his weenies... I didn't draw any of my burn :( 2nd and third game are in my favour though... he does his beatdown on me for a while but i gain control of the board again with my weenies then pyrotechnics his banding creature then beat him down.... third game i had a god had... Nothing to fear i thought... I had a fireball , rockslide , ironclaw orcs and my sabertooth tigers with about 2 land in had and i took a bit of damage at the start the rockslide then beat him down with my creature to 10 life then i cast a 6 point fireball and fireblast :) hee hee.... 2nd round Vs Darren Williams (team kings player... suprized he was the only one that made top 8, i was expecting more...) 1st game i get weenies and beat him down a bit... he then casts a fatty then next turn undo's my creature, manowar's another creature then beat's me down with his fatties... :( 2nd game i get an ok hand but no mountains... I took the risk that i wound soon draw a mountain... I play.... 1st turn play a swamp... 2nd turn play a fallen askari 3rd turn play a tar pit warrior then 4th turn play a python... darren then undo's my python and tar pit warror... all the other cards in my hand were red and i counld cast them... i had a rock slide, fireball, fireblast and other red weenies... i then cast my python again then darrens cast another fatty... he's on about 12 or so life of memory then i have to go on defensive... he casts a few more fattie and start's to attack me... I draw No mountains the whole game and my hand was fill with the answers but i couldn't cast them :( he then show me an undo in his had then i concede coz after he attacks i'll die... :~( Anyways... I was quiet dissapointed that my deck didn't do as well as i expexted... Next time i think i should pray more to the mana god... lol.... Now i was just hoping for another team member of team yo to take my revenge... in the finals(kerry fung) ... but kerry fung lost... :( hope you guys reading this liked my report... thankz to all the pple that came and ran the tournament and my members of team yo... :P Congratulations to darren also for winning the tourny... :)
