It's a fairly small 32 player single elimination tournament, but there are many good players that attend, such as Derek Rank, (inventor of Turbo-Stasis ((and fuck you all who think otherwise))) Don Gallitz, (Ranked in the top 20 in the world) and Mike Long (enough said). In addition, most of the other people at the game parlor are super players, not like your average local tournament. My name is AlienHead, God of the Mana Screw, and I thought that I needed to play a deck that would do well againsed the environemnt as a whole. I hate playing mono red and counter post, because everyone is out to screw them. So I played a 5color mono black, because it's fast, and I could add main deck metagame cards. Some of the main deck cards that helped me win were: Forsaken Wastes, Swords, and Suq'ata Lancer. Plus, I played with Demonic consultation because I think it's a hell of alot better than Vampiric Tutor, despite the number of times I killed myself with it. Round 1: againsed a man named Don, very nice guy. game 1: He was playing what looked like R/B, so the first turns of everygame turned into Guildmage fights. I start out the game without cutting his deck, one of my almighty mana screw tricks (I never get mana screwed). He draws a Gemstone and a Swamp. I get pummeled by Orcs and Sewer Rats untill I gain controll with a guildmage. I then get out a few knights and a Ghost. He only drew 2 land. Game 2: Same story. He gets a Gemstone and a Mountian on the draw, and that was it. He did do about 13 damage to me, but I gained controll again. 1-0, 2-0 games Round 2: againsed Sam Wausserman, the worst player in the universe. He's like 7 years old, been playing since Beta, and still sux. His parents are..... (I won't finish) Game 1: Figure there is no mana scerw needed for him, so I cut him. He's playing a lock deck with 4 wisdoms. I kill him with the same black knight in one game, DESPITE THE FACT HE HAD OUT 2 QUICKSANDS! Game 2: Don't know what he's playing, so I side in another Wastes. He starts, and tutors for an Arrows. I get out 3 black knights, and get him down to about 4 when he wisdoms for 16. Then He wraths. I consult for the Wastes, he doesn't counter, and I incinerate him to get ahead on life. At about 3 life, he Wisdom's and I'm like "OK," and he says he's at like 21, but I tell him about the wastes no life gaining ability, and he longs for his Mommy. Next turn he disenchants the Wastes like he's all cool. I'm like "OK, you take 5." He gets up and runs out the door. 2-0, 4-0 games Round 3: Againsed another Don, a really nice guy too. He is like the only other person I know on the east coast that likes old Alice in Chains. Game 1: He's playing maro falcon. I get out two knights and then he armors his falcon, saying "ok, let's try this." I swords in response. He does get out about 4 falcons, and I get out a lancer and combined with my knights, gain controll. He did get me down to 3, however. Game 2: Side in 4 Dystopias, the most powerful sideboard card to ever hit type 2, in my opinion. I'll be sad when they go. I get two Dystopias on the draw, man-o-war his White Knight, and beat him down. Pro White won me both games, in addition to my Incinerate and Swords to kill his Pro Black. 3-0, 6-0 games Round 4: Don Gallitz, tough competior, but I know I can beat him. Game 1: I summon the AlienHead god of mana screw, Leader of my people. Taping Don's deck must have done something, he drew one land all game! Game 2: By now everyone still there is watching, and he shuffles my deck, giving me a super hand. I tap his, and tell him he has no hope. He's playing some Black Blue orb deck, similar to mine, but I see a few flaws, like arcanes instead of Lapses. He says he'll play, and draws his hand. I read his face and scream: One swamp. I get out knights, and he finaly gets out more land, while contagioning my knights. Then he casts knights of the Mist. He's at 4, and I lock his 4 land with an orb. I have a tourch in my hand, get 4 open with him only having 2, and I torch for the win. 4-0, 8-0 games Finals: Aginsed Derek Rank. He's always a tough competior, and he's one of the most flawless players I've ever seen. Game 1: My friend Abe who won last week keeps track of my life for me, using my people, Steel Golem (notice the Alien? that's AlienHead's family). I once agiain summon the almighty serew, and Derek gets like a Tithe and 6 Plains on the draw. He's playing White Weenie, and gets out a knight, which I swords, and concedes. Game 2: I side in 4 Dystopia. He gets out 3 creatures and so do I, but mine are all Pro White. I had 3 land, and am tapped out, when he Armors his archer and hits me for 7! I knew my next draw had to be a land or Man-o-War. I get a swamp and Nekretall his archer and beat him down. Dystopia finishes off the rest of his creatures. 5-0, 10-0 games: Undefeated! I hadn't won a tornament in a while, so I figured I should get serious and win one. Thanks to the Game Parlor for holding such a good tournament (the Prize needs to be fixed, but that's not what I play for).
