Subject: Tournament report Date: Sat, 17 Oct 1998 10:13:27 -0400 From: "borg10" To: Sean Hoffmann borg10@peconic.net Type of tournament:TSE Deck played:Rude Awakening # of people: 24 after weeks of playtesting i was pretty sure that i was gunna play Rude Awakeinng as i beat most TSE that i played with the deck. i did however have probelms with hackers prayer but i never ran into it in the tournament heres the deck: 11 Island 8 Forest 2 Skyshroud Forest 3 Reflecting Pool 4 CounterSpell 4 Forbid 4 Legacy Allure 4 Capsize 4 Whisper of the muse 4 Tradewind Rider 4 Awakening 4 Wall of Blossoms 2 Spike Feeder 2 Spike Weaver Round 1: a Megrim deck i belive his name was lance and he was probably the most polite magic player ive ever played against(why cant we all be more like him? game1: i die fast after he kills the only tradewind i drew with a couple of acidic slivers game2: i parised down to 5 and i kept a it with 3 lands a tradewind and counter. bad move. i never draw a land for about 15 turns and i cant counter his bottomless pit i die 0-2 0-1 Round2: Cueno Blue variant Robbie kern game1:he counter everything i need he wins with a silver wyvern beatdown game2: i bounce everything he owns i win game3: i never see a trade or awakening i die 1-4 0-2 Round3: WW i cant remeber his name but i think he was lance's brother or friend game1: yea i die not very pretty game2: this game was probably the biggest comeback in magic history. needless to say he has 4 soul wardens out and in order to stay alive i have to keep on bouncing his venerable monks and staund defenders (im at 2 life for most of the game) finnaly i draw an awakeneing when hes at 157 life!!! we only have 20 minutes left so i cap'd basically 5 permanents on mine and his ans in a matter of 1 minute he went from 24 permanents to none! after that i beta him down with a legacied staund defender and a few spikes and he died quickly i did it i came back form 157-2 that itself was worth coming for game3: as soon as he sees awakening and a trade he concedes smart move 3-5 1-2 Round4 U/W control iwth more soul wardens!!! doh! game1: i get the lock out before he can do anything he concedes game2:he sees i have a tradewind and 2 walls to bounce stuff so he concedes on turn 3 5-5 2-2 so it wasnt that bad after all all though i still have no idea how i lost the 1st 2 sets but they thats magic! peace!
