He was a semifinalist at the 1998 Junior Super Series Championships. He has made the top 8 of numerous Qualifiers. Ken Simpson is a San Diego native and a relative newcomer to the Los Angeles Magic scene. He was previously a semifinalist at the 1998 Southern California Regional Championships and competed at the 1998 U.S. National Championships. This is his first Qualifier top 8. Aaron Ezroj is another Southern California regular. This is his second Qualifier top 8. Khody Azmoon is yet another Southern California regular. He is best known for having actually given the number of the Women's Club pay phone to his parents, resulting in the judging staff being Khody's answering service on more than one occassion. This is his first Qualifier top 8. Mike Dove is a longtime Southern California regular. He is former top 25 ranked Classic player, and he competed in the 1996 PT Los Angeles, PT Columbus, PT Atlanta, and PT Dallas. He also competed in the Classic event at PT Dallas, and was a quarterfinalist at 1996 U.S. Nationals. Mike has made numerous Qualifier top 8's and he really hates mana screw. Greg Dube is still The Man (tm) in SoCal, despite having his deck die two weeks in a row while being one game away from qualifying for Rome. He goes into the SoCal Hall of Shame being the first ever person to take a triple mulligan at the Women's Club. Greg has previously competed at PT Mainz, the 1998 PT Los Angeles, and the 1998 PT New York. He is also the 1997-1998 Aztlan Player of the Year. Raymond Higa is SoCal regular best known for his sealed deck skills (he has made the top 8 of the weekly sealed event 10 out of the last 12 he has played in). This was his first Qualifier top 8 and Rome will be his first PT. James Takenaga is a Level II judge and a longtime skilled player. He has previously competed at the 1997 PT Chicago and 1998 PT Los Angeles. James was a quarterfinalist at the 1997 Junior PT New York. When he isn't judging, James is usually burning his way through the top 8. The game he lost in the finals to Raymond Higa was only his second game loss of the entire day.
