Subject: Donais5COath Date: Tue, 22 Sep 1998 15:30:57 +0200 From: "brotherhood" To: Hi! This Saturday the 'traders' organized a type II event in Dülmen (Germany). The tourney was 7 rounds of swiss without final 8. Three members of our Team Virtual Warrior´s attended the tourney (Stefan Urban, Claus Chudzinski and me). Stefan went with CounterPhoenix, Claus with 3cWW and I decided to play Mike Donais 5cU-Oath. This is the deck I played: 3 City of Brass 4 Reflecting Pool 3 Gemstone Mine 1 Adarkar Wastes 1 Thalakos Lowlands 1 Brushland 1 Vec Townships 4 Islands 1 Plain 2 Forests 1 Flood Plain 2 Undiscovered Paradise - 24 4 Spike Feeder - 4 4 Oath of Druids 3 Gaea´s Blessing 4 Impulse 3 Whispers of the Muse 4 Counterspell 2 Dissipate 2 Forbid 1 Disrupt 4 Wrath of God 1 Sylvan Library 1 Fireball 2 Disenchant 1 Shattering Pulse 1 Phyrexian Furnace - 33 Sideboard: 3 Pyroblast 1 Lobotomy 1 Disenchant 2 Hydroblast 2 Warmth 1 Gerrards Wisdom 1 Mangaras Blessing 1 Aura of Silence 1 Phyrexian Furnace 1 Rainbow Efreet 1 Null Rod 1. round, Jan-Hendrik Holtermann, g/r/w wheenie with Sylvan and Pursuit of K. In the first duel I established total controle with an 18/18!!! Feeder but Jan does not concede (Thank you). I fireballed his last blocker five minutes before time is called and killed him. There was no time to start the second duel. 1-0-0, 1-0 2. round, Andreas Mohr, xcWW In the first duel I countered his cataclysms and enchantment removal and rolled to victory. In the 2nd duel I had him down to 7 life when time is called. After the match he told me that he has only two visionarys and two disenchants to get rid of the oath. 2-0-0, 2-0 3. round, Claus Chudzinski, 3cWW with firestorms and two mana leaks, teammate I know I must win the first duel, because he would sideboard seven cards against me (four pyros and three auras, four disenchants and two visionarys main deck). I established controle in the first duel and he concedes when I cast whisper with buyback. In the second duel I started with land and two Oath´s but no countermagic. I topdecked two counterspells and one additional Oath and he drews no enchantment destruction early. I killed him with two 3/3 feeders, countering his benalish knights (only shadows in play). 3-0-0, 4-0 4. round, Christian Pimmingsdorfer, CMU Blue In the first duel I managed to destroy all his stalking stones and counter his Rainbow, he concedes. In the second duel I was a little mana screwed and he plays two Bottle Gnomes and smacks me for two each turn. I disenchantet one and pulsed the other when he taps one of his two u mana sources (two sands, two islands in play) to cast impulse, luckily he holds no force spike or leak. Time was called eight minutes later. 4-0-0, 5-0 5. round, Frank Scheimann, WW In the first duel I draw nothing and he stomps over me. Now I had to play very fast (only 50 minutes per round). In the second duel I oathed like crazy and hold of his creatures. Fireball sealed his fate when I changed into controle mode and cast fireball three times in a row (thanks to a sylvan and an oath action leaving me with the following result: Feeder, no blessing, eight cards left in library, one of them the ball and three blessings). In the third duel he plays only shadows and I beat him down with feeders and fireballed him to death. 5-0-0, 7-1 6. round, Dominik Kofert, CMU Blue In the first duel he kills me late with a stalking stone (20 minutes left). In the second duel he stalls the game by counting our librarys about three times (I had null rod and oath on the table and he got no way to get rid of em) and he plays very slow. Time was called when he got about eleven cards left in his library. He even says after the match that he has stalled, because he had no way to win the second duel. 5-1-0, 7-2 7. round, Andreas Wuschel, Stupid-Green He concedes the first duel when I got the controle. The second duel was a time out with me having again the total controle. 6-1-0, 8-2 In the end I finished 2nd and got 19 boosters of exodus. Dominik Kofert won the tourney because his last opponent REFUSED to stall against him infact he easily had. I hope next time you will be a better sportsman Dominik. Claus finished 10th (5-2-0) and Stefan 14th (4-2-1). Falk Bernhardt Team Virtual Warrior´s
