Subject: a torney report Date: Sun, 6 Sep 1998 10:08:13 -0300 From: "Caetano" To: Hi Frank, I'm from Brazil and I don't speak English very well, this weekend I went to a tourney at Rio Preto, a city from the interior of Sao Paulo, and I decided to play with my oath deck, we had about 50 people there and it was Swiss style. well this is deck: 4 oath o druids 3 gea`s blessing 2 enlighten tutor 1 spirit of the night 2 spike feeder 1 spike hatcher 4 impulse 1 scroll rack 2 sylvan library 4 counterspell 2 mana leak 2 force spike 3 forbid 1 verdant touch 1 aura of silence 2 Armageddon 3 propaganda 3 undiscovered paradise 3 gemstone mine 4 forest 2 city of brass 1 maze of shadows 2 quicksand’s 6 island 1 adrkar wastes sideboard: 3 lobotomy 2 dread of night 1 verdant touch 1 emerald charm 3 disenchant 1 circle of protection: black 2 chill 1 shatering pulse 1 phyrexiam furnace Round 1( I do not remember the name of the guys) x A guy that was playing with a man`o`war, alurem, soul warden and pandemonium game1: I counter his alurem with a force spike let he get out of one warden, than I put my oath in game and start the beatdown. game2: I use lobotomy on his aluren and now he has no creatures on the tablet, I put 11 manas on the tablet and get Spirit of the night out of my hand, he had no counter and I win. 1-0-0 round 2 x slight game1: slight and suicide black has no chance against my deck, I draw the oath in the first turn put it on the tablet, and start to gain life with my spikes, than the spirit came and run it to the victory, ( I was with 32 life ) game2: the same as game one 2-0-0 round 3 x fish game1: I have no oath and he starts the beatdown, I think that I looked at all my library whit oath finding the oath, than I use an enlighten tutor, pick up the oath, put it on the tablet and go for the win. game2: I have no oath, and he has many counters and one fish, than I lose. game3: when I think that I'm gonna die the oath comes, he gets oath of one disk and I use the tutor, take one aura and go for the win. 3-0-0 round 4, this is the last round of Swiss and I I.D. 3-0-1 eighterfinals: x Valmir, playing with one W.W. like Mate Lind game1: He starts very good, and keep to give me much damage, than he get out of one aura, and I can’t put the oath in the tablet, he get out of cataclysm when I have 2 propaganda’s in the tablet, I sacrifice one and he destroys the other with aura, than I draw one land and use the oath, game. Game1: this game was easy, I have 3 oaths in my hand, and he has no chance. 4-0-1 quarterfinals: x a very fast slight. Game1: slight has no chance against my deck, I have the oath, and my spikes he me with many life, and than after this the spirit comes and I win. Game2: like game one, but I think that I used the tutor on the first turn, and taked the oath for the win. 5-0-1 Semifinals: x Gustavo, playing with a W.W. Game1: I have one mana and I accept, he starts the beatdown with a knight and an empiric armor on it, I lose this game when disenchants my oath. Game2: I get out of one dread of the night and one lobotomy and put his 4 disenchants out of the game and go for the win. Game3: I’ve only one maze of shadows in my hand, but I’ve also 1 dread of the night and one oath, I acep. and draw a gemstone mine, put the dread in the tablet, and when I’ve 4 manas I coast the oath, he disenchants and I counter it, game. 6-0-0 In the final I I.D. with friend Diogenes that was playing with a prospbloom ( I had 3 lobotomy’s on my side, and 4 cards that disenchant, hehehehe) I won 5 exodus boosters.
