well, my 22 match unbeaten streak finally came to an end in the
doncaster quarter-finals vs neil rigby
i've had a really busy month and ended up playing my unknown oath deck
again - i had ferried my girlfriend to a wedding at which she was
bridesmaid the day before and being shattered played even more like a
moron than usual...
i only dropped 2 games in the swiss - the first when i tried to cast
spirit of the night vs phil lowther's red shivan/burn deck (but only
had 2 black mana !! hmm.. mana burn:(
the second when i was beating down another oath deck with a rainbow
and the opponent cast a 1G enchantment beginning with 'S' with another
15 or so letters after it...it's only when it triggers to bring a
spirit of the night into play for him that i realise it's not a
survival but a french oath of druids !! aagh!


stupidly took a one reflecting pool start vs neil in the 1/4's (he was
playing mono blue with ertai and some licids) and saw him get a
rainbow down before i could counter
the second game we drew - his licids kept me at bay - it was at this
point that i realised just how crap my morning's sideboard choice of
two stalking stones had been - why the hell didn't i use scraggies
instead ?  they'd have simply ignored his deck...

i played against the following decks (i've mislaid my sheet so
apologies for not remembering names)

doncaster is cancelled next month, so that's it for the oath deck for
me -  i only got to play it twice - these rotations are getting a bit
silly, but i suppose at least fast rotations reward the better
designers...

i don't know who won - can someone post the results ?

(ben martin was top 8 with another oath deck, obviously neil was top 4
-the rest i didn't see - oath decks tend to take up the full hour when
lots of blue is around:)

for anyone that does have T2 tournies left here is v1.3 of the unknown
oath deck (the v1.2 i played at doncaster had a tit song, whispers and
capsize in main and stalkers rather than scraggies in the bord). the
nicest thing about the deck is the amount of spare slots for personal
tuning - that's why it's annoying to only get to play it twice....
