I am writing a report since this is the first week of the PtQ season. I do not generally write tourney reports so this one will not be very good. We drove to Columbus, OH and saw some good players. Notable players in attendace: Theron Martin(who really needs a hat), Andy Hick, Anthony "Cool Hair" Justice, Turian, Silberman, J & J Means. If I left you out, I just didnot know you. I thought they would be in GP Boston, but it was nice talking to them. Lots of locals, I had not gotten chance to chat with since Origins. Enough dribble, on to the report. I played sligh. I like it and it is consistent. Dan Bridy really fixed my version. Deck list at bottom. Round 1: WW He is land light and I am just too fast for him. Burn brings it home. 1-0 (mental note: look around and all 5 people at table with me are playing WW) Round 2: Humble/Prayer(Dojo Deck) This is a rough first game, if the guy knows how to play. Post SB, I just win. 2-0 Round 3: WW He has soul wardens and zealots to gain life. He had priests and paladins for dmg. I still win because I play first. (Only close Game) Post SB, He has CoP red and 7 mana with a priest. I win this game, too. Amazing how good sligh is. (mental note: Is every one playing Plains?) 3-0 Round 4: C/P (WooHoo! No ProRed Critters!!!) He has burn, I have goblins. He gets some mana, dies before develops 5 to phoenix me. Game 2, Islands were banned so I win easily. 4-0 (mental note: Draw into top 8 and get a diet coke) Round 5: WW Do math and draw. (mental note: Diet Coke tastes good during long tourneys) Round 6: CMU Earthcraft Deck Draw and just talk with people. (mental note: Go through swiss w/o a game loss) Top 8: Before top 8, we get deck checked and I am told I wrote down 4 wild cats when there should only be 3. Sigh, I get a warning, first game loss. Glad mike did not kick me out of tourney so atleast I get a box. (mental note: Learn to count!) Decklist: ----------- Some Goblins Some Bolts Some Mountains Quarters: CMU Earthcraft I begin 0-1 which means I do not get to see my SB unless I win first game w/o it.
