Anyways I get up like at 4:30 in the morning and Aaron Emshoff , my little brother, and me get in Aaron's truck and off we go. The tournament is being run by Ed Fox so its run on time as usual so i sit down with my friends and open the most broken sealed deck ever whoever gets this is going to be in the final 8 was my quote. So i turn my deck and just pray that I get my deck back cause no one and I mean no one could lose with this deck.So the decks are being passed out i hear my name "Jeff FInk" i go im right here and take that deck so fast and start saying thank you to everyone i was so happy well here is what i played Artifacts Flowstone Sculpture (VOLTRON man this thing can be mean) White Angelic Protector Advance Scout Mounted Archers Disenchant ( Started it do to the fact that i figured i would be at the top tables with Chambers and scrolls galore) Convinction Kor chant Pacifism Repentance Red Kindle Shock Shard Phoenix (Pretty good ) Mage il vec Canyon wildcat Flowstone Giant Lighning Elemental Jackal Pup Flowstone Blade Blue Spell Blast Wall of Tears Whip Tongue Frog Tradewind Rider ( UH Thank you god) Cloud Spirit This Deck had more removal and broken cards then any deck i have ever seen in my life If i didnt make top 8 i would cry. Well here goes: It was 6 rounds about 70 people Round 1 Trey Spillman Game 1 : Im doin good i think i kill a few creatures attack a little he then drops Warrior Angel not good, not good at all i try to repentance and then plink it with my Mage il Vec but he has a healer i go down this game and dont feel good anymore. Game 2 : This game i dont remeber well i know he gets out the Angel again but i think i get around it and i think i domnated the game with shard phoenix over and over again. Game 3 : There is like 10 minutes in the round left and my draw is beat down i go first turn jackal pup second turn canyon wildcat and i kill his next 3 creatures one with a kor chant and like get him down to 5 when he drops Warrior Angel bitch im still pretty confident but im thinking he might be able to stall it out to a draw now but i eventually overwhelm him barely with like 2 or 3 minutes left im happy and i then show him the tradewind i never drew any of these games which i could have used but oh well im happy. 1-0 Round 2 Jeremy Wichman Game 1 : Uh Recurring Shard Phoenix and all his stuff dies so i win or something Game 2 : Tradewind is Pretty good i hear i win again. After the game he says if someone cheated today is was you i think he was just kidding but then again i was wearing my Team Oklahoma shirt so who knows ?? Round 3 Dave Maxwell I know Dave from Oklahoma he is pretty good like our number 1 Limited player in the state or something like that and he is looking for revenge for the loss i gave him 3 weeks ago in Dallas and then i scrubbed out and hurt his tiebreaks so he didnt make top 8 but anyways. Game 1 : I get the biggest shadow beating ever first turn little soltari guy, second turn like monk or priest and then the maruader and i dont draw a solution i die. Game 2 : I kill his early shadow and then draw my Shard phoenix and dominate much of it the game is very close but i win. Game 3 : he gives me a beating i then clear the board with phoenix and he lays an exalted dragon i then draw a repentace then later has a shadow guy beating on me till i get to one i attack and win the next turn when he tried to banish my flowstone giant before i attack, but i topdecked a spell blast that turn =)~ God loves me I win. Round 4 James Stroud Texas Guildmage with a GOD deck not good for me im thinking we sit down and he is like didnt you kill me with some quadruple enchanted spirit en-kor in money draft im like yup spirit en-kor with heros resolve,giant strength ,conviction, and maniacal rage is pretty sweet something like a 8/14 not bad we lost the draft anyways though. Game 1 : He gets his torture chamber and it wrecks some stuff before i draw my disenchant and disenchant it thank god but he get his tradewind what the #$@$ and beats me. hmm he is playing decently heavy white with like soltari preist and stuff and none of my removal can handle his Tradewind i start side boarding and he is wondering what the hell im doing he is like i guess ill have to see i ended up siding out all my white creatures and spells and left 2 islands for my tradewind and put in 4 swamps and a,dread of night, disturbed burial, rats of rath,slaughter,and gravedigger Game 2 :He is manascrewed i win easily i think not completely sure. Game 3 : My opening hand isnt that great it has like 2 swamps of my four some random stuff and a plains but i draw my slaughter some creatures slaughter everything down to 2 life then slaughtered his tradewind and ran him over with the rest of my creatures he needed a blue to counterspell the slaughter but never drew it. He is mad after he saw that i only put in 4 swamps to support the slaughter but i figured i could be a late game card anyways oh well im happy. 4-0 Round 5 : Aaron Emshoff Hmm my ride down here not good to play him I sorta have a dilemma because him and my brother are renting us a hotel room for the night and they are late im not worried about thinking he wil be here any sec they show up like 8 minutes later and i could get a first round win but i dont take it we just decide to play it out since winner is obviously in and the other just has to win next round we both would have to play next round if we drew. Game 1 : My deck cant handle big green stuff and he clears the board with a Envincars and wins. Game 2 : I win some how i dont remember Game 3 : I draw a bunch of land and he wins he feels bad about it cause his deck is shit and my deck is the "Shit" but its ok. 4-1 Im in 3rd after this round there were only 2 undefeated's and my tibreakers are so freakin high im gonna offer my next opponent a draw. Round 6 Shawn Houston I offer him a draw he says no i beg some more try to prove he wil make it in too which im sure he will but he says no ok whatever. Game 1 : He casts an early trained armadon i get my wall and sit back then cast my tradewind with a splicer out he splices flying away and hits me for 3 i go ok my turn i look at his side no what he doesnt have two forests too ever cast the armadon not even one in his graveyard so i call a judge and he has to return it to his hand take 3 mana burn and i get 3 like back prettty sweet i then return a forest to his hand =). gain control and eventaully beat him. Game 2 : I have like the perfect beatdown draw all the way and 6th turn i drop VOLTRON give him freakin +2/+2, trample, and first strike and he tramples through a canopy spider for the kill. 5-1 WOO HOO i get to draft SIt down and 3 of my opponents are in the final 8 not bad i guess including my friend and fellow Team Oklahoma member Aaron. I sit down not to sure what im gonna draft. In my oppening pack i totally cut off white i think on my side of the table taking all the possible white cards in two packs with my first pick Cloud Chaser and second pick soltari trooper. Then i picked 2 power sinks and got a gift propaganda so i went blue and white. But i was passing the best black and red shit ever to my left i passed a disturbed and then 3 mogg fanatics in a row not ot mention the opening banishing i had scary stuff. I didnt have to worry about him until the finals however. Well ill cut to the chase since im getting tired of typing the only other thing was a plague bearer i had to pass on the 5th pick for a shackles for me and passing a kor chant because i opened a dominating licid will someone tell me if i made the right choice i think i did ? Well here is what i played: Blue: Dominating licid Curiosity (this is broken in sealed this can be abused in Rath consructed im sure ) 2xPowersinks 2x Spindrift Drakes Mindgames Gliding Licid Propaganda Gaseous Form (Underated but defenetely good in my deck) White Soul Warden Cloudchaser Eagle Hero's Resolve Mounted Archers Soltari Trooper Venerable Monk Calming Licid 2xCharging Paladin ( i had a 3rd ) Youthful Knight Standing Troops Warrior Enkor Shackles Notable cards in SB : Cop:RED (Almost my best cop red ever) School of Piranha (BEATDOWn tech) Hammerhead shark (BEATDOWN tech) Quaterfinals Timothy Mcnish Game 1 : He is playing green white my soltari trooper almost goes all the way and my domionting licid steals his skyshroud trooper and then i put him in fat pants and it can defend against and kill most of his stuff i then kill him with like spindrifts. Game 2 :He is mana screwed and i kill him pretty quickly. Semifinals Ryan Kremeir Game1: Pretty long game i start with a second turn spindrfit then put a curiosity on it and this drake does 14 points of damage him netting me 7 card good right ?? nope i got like one non land card and he starts to gain control with his merfolk looter and volraths stronghold pretty good if you ask me . He Dregs two creatures but on one turn im able to get him to 1 he only has one flying blocker and i draw my cloudchaser and i already have a spindrift in play he is at 1 he draws a reckless spite consults the judges and here is what he does im at 6 declares his attack says before you declare blockers during the attack phase ill recless spite cloud chaser and spindrift he is at zero and attacks me for 6 i was at 6 im now at zero he ends his attack and we both die was this right can he cast the reckelss spite someone tell me ??? im not bitter just wanna know. Game 2 : Dont remember he wins though there is like 10 minutes left in the round after this. Game 3 : I Side in BEATDOWN Tech Hammer Head Shark and School of piranha i dont get them though but i beat him pretty quick with spindrifts and knight, Game 4 :3 minutes left last game decided on life it doesnt matter much considering i get like first second third fourth and fifth turn creature and he gets like one but those are the breaks and i beat him rather quickly. BEATDOWN Finals James Stroud Im scared of this matchup so bad cause i know what he drafted i passed him so much good stuff it wasnt funny i wanted to keep my deck strong though. We have a little talk and decide that the loser will get the cash good deal win or lose. I still wanted to win but what 250$ can do to take away the sting of defeat. Game 1 : A few fanatics some conscripts i die after he removes alot of creatures wow man do i regret passing that stuff. Game 2: I sided in my Cop:red and i get it second turn and then a propaganda he can never outrace the Cop:red so i never needed the ganda but he drops a loan marshlurker which i later gaseous form and i deck him he didnt have any other black creatures ?? Game 3 : i draw my seven cards like 4 lands some other stuff and a Cop: red is the seventh card i draw im so happy im going to Chicago aren't I NOPE he side boarded one brush with death and an anarchist i sit back and get brushed to death man oh man i was sure i was gonna go but i got 250 dollars which James Decided to give me in cash no waiting half a year to get a check from WOTC. Props: Aaron for taking me up here and making top 8 himself you should havent drafted 3 colors though dude. Team Oklahoma im part of it so i guess its pretty cool and i get to wear a T- shirt that says so ooh. All my opponents no one was an ass so it was all good . Ed Fox the best tourney organizer ever lotso prizesand for trading me a japanese starter of tempest for two regular ones it had a cursed scroll and a rathi dragon in it not bad at all. C.J Litlle Junior bud won the JSS qualifier even though you are on cocky little %$^#^ sometimes Slops: Joe for going to all the Qualifiers to end up participating in all the side events you're one of the best players in the state time you stop scrubbing out. Me for not qualifying And the 2 guys who got disqualified at the exodus prerelease i hope the dci kicks you out forever but whatever nothing will probably happen.
