The format was Tempest/Stronghold constructed. About 30 people were present for a 6 swiss round tourney. As usual the prizes were small but there was plenty of them. I decided to play for fun a 5 color Sliver deck with only basic lands fetched with Harrow. Decklist at the end. By the way, another Sliver deck (3 color with Tradewind Riders) won the tournament ! Well done Micham ! Round 1 Benoit - Red/Black (Fireslingers, Gnomes, Gravepact, ...) Game 1 I got a fast start with the Crystalline Sliver coming on turn 2. I see two black creatures before he's pounded to death with Winged, Muscle and Acidic. I get a slow start in game 2, which gives him time to take control and he gets me in a lock involving Gravepact, Bottle Gnomes and Corpse Dance. In the 3rd game, the Crystalline doesn't want to come out and he scrolls my Slivers and then me to death with 4 scrolls on the table !! 1-2 in games, 0 points Round 2 Red/White (Shadow, Stauch Defenders, Direct Damage) In these two games, I got the perfect start with, in order of appearance : Mr Crystalline, Mr Winged, Mr Muscle and Mr Acidic. The mother of these nice little boys make his appearance in game 2. 3-2 in games, 3 points Round 3 Pierre - U/W Control I start quite slowly and he has time to establish control with a Crystalline Sliver and an Angelic Protector. I've only a Talon Sliver out and a Muscle which doesn't help me very much. In game 2, he has time to steal my Muscle with Legacy's Allure but then the horde comes out and pound on him. I finish him with a Scroll and two Acidic in hand. Game 3 is also a slow start, I've 3 lands (Forest, Island, Swamp) when he taps out to play Silver Wyvern. I Harrow at the end of his turn and guess what's 5 color and very angry?? Mrs Sliver Queen herself. After that, the pounding begins and I won the match rapidly. 5-3 in games, 6 points Round 4 Red/White Ensnaring Bridge with Scrolls, DD, ... In the fist game, he gets me under the bridge (3 actually) with no cards in hand and scrolls me to death. Game two is in my favor with his bridges being disenchanted or countered and I pound on him despite his direct damage. Game three is funny. I draw two muscles in my opening hand and two more in the coming draws. Of course, I don't have a forest !! He lays a bridge and finally I get my forest. (By the way, I've 2 disenchants in hand from the start). I lay my muscles one by one and nicely disenchant his bridge to kill him with 4 5/5 creatures. 7-4 in games, 9 points. Round 5 Jean - Green/Red Fast Big Creatures This match is over in 8 minutes sharp. Game one, I can only lay a talon sliver while he puts out a pincher beetle, a spined wurm and a carnasid. My sliver tries an heroic resistance but it's too much for him. Game two is my mana death of the day. For the rest, see game one and add direct damage. 7-6 in games, 9 points. Round 6 Red/White Orim's Prayer/Humility The first game is rather quick in my favour. He doesn't have the time to put out the combo soon enough. I kill him with the acidic and a scroll after disenchanting the humility. In goes the disenchant and tranquilities Game 2 is great for him as he locks me, wins life with Essence bottle and Winds of Wrath all my slivers into oblivion. I concede this one to have enough time on the third. The third game should have been for him if his Winds of Wrath had wanted to come. I mulligan to six and get a tranquility. We start : Land, scroll. Him : Land, scroll. Land, disenchant. Him : Land, Shatter. I harrow and begin to slowly build my army with Mrs Queen out, acidic, winged and a bunch of tokens. He has established the combo and he's waiting for a Wind when I cast Tranquility and lauch the horde to finally finish him with the Acidic. 9-7 in games, 12 points. I finish 7th after about 8 people (including Jean-Louis D'hondt and other good players) dropped out to play a booster draft. This deck was a lot of fun to play with and surprised me with the staying power it can have even in the late game.
