I have to thank (yes I'm doing some props up front )to Jamie, Keith ,and Louise for being some great adult examples to me and my pals and for holding such a great type 1 tourney. THANK YOU ! Now lets get on with it ....... I decided to play the deck that I previously taken the local T1's .Yes it's White Weenie! I had already won 3 T1's with this deck. It's a good deck. Blah, Blah , Blah..... Here's the deck ....... 4 Leitbur 1 Tax 4 White shield 1 Balance 4 White knights 1 Wrath 4 Sav. lions 1 Zorb 2 Knight of dawn (SWEET ) 1 reinforcements 2 Serra's 1 Icy (Handy ) 4 Swords 4 Disenchant 1 Geddon Buncha land (27) SIDE 4 Aura's 3 Serr. arrows 3 Sleights 2 Exiles 1 E. Flux 1 Energy storm ( should've been a flux) 1 Spirit link SO ANYWAYS... there's about 24 players here, I think. First round I match up with Ron Williams ( Keith's Nephew) ROUND 1 - RON -W.W. Game 1 - he gave me the shadow beatdown, no shadow in my deck. He busts a geddon with 2 critters, I have none. I die. plain and simple, I die ! Game 2 -in come the arrows.Shadow vs. non shadow race begins, but I get the 4th turn arrows. he never sees his arrows, he dies. Game 3 -see game 2 but I bust Geddon with a 2 to 0 creature advantage ! Note- Ron got a bad draw on the third game because I saw him look at his hand and shiver. It was a good match. Ron is a very worthy opponent ! ROUND 2-MARC MYERS U/W/R FAT W/ BOLTS Game 1- I can beat anyone who's mana hosed. Sorry Marc. Game 2 - wraths and the Icy come out and the 2 disenchants, aura and the exiles come in ! Marc says "All I need to do is draw 2 wildfires." I make a little s.b. trip and bring back the disenchant in come more aura's hoping he will be hosed again. In goes the energy storm for his serendibs, which I never see ! he got the 1 land draw but he did top deck allot of it. Game goes well for me because i saw a bunch of critters while he saw no Pest Control. I Win ! Note- I was lucky throughout this match in that he was hosed the 1st game and then drew land and not finding his bolts or swords! ROUND 3 - WAYNE HOBDAY - MONO GREEN OVERRUN game 1- first strike is one of the best creature abilities out there and win with a serra. His deck is T2 except for 2 ernham which he never sees. game 2 - in come the exiles, and arrows. he gets 1 land and I strip it. He draws a forest and plays a rogue elephant. he attacks and I exile it. I'm such a scrub. I win this with wayne finding only 1 forest ! Note- Wayne was 2-0 until \this match with a T2 mono green deck well done Wayne. ROUND 4 - LOUISE GRAHAM- FAT/COUNTERS/BOLTS/PLOWS ! Game 1 - she got the 1 reflecting pool draw. when she finally got any other land I wasted everything around the pool. I win ! Game 2 - I side in the Auras to slow down the jewelry , hosed opponents are easy to beat. In come the energy storm. Louise got the mishras factory draw this time which I waste. I won even though she sacked the lotus on turn 1 for a serendib, I then had to plow it giving her 3 more life during her discard phase. Note- One of the best players around. She would have smashed me if she had land ! ROUND 5 - ZACH ? - NOT FROM HERE- PLAYING LAND DESTRUCTION Game 1- he wasn't prepared for 14 pro black critters. I win. besides I play 27 land. I hate being hosed ! game 2 - see game 1. I'm such a scrub. I side out my geddon. sometimes I don't against a land destruction but he was playing so much destruction so I figured I should. In come the Sleights. don't know why, just to make it really hard to kill my guys with bolts. He goes bolt your dude and I go sleight it to pro red and he goes "crap" what kinda jank is that ?' and I go " I'm sucha scrub!" Note: I don't think a land destruction deck can beat my deck too easily, because I play insane amounts of land and all my guys cost 2. Zack is a real cool guy, hope I see him around. I made the top 8 in the first seed. Therefore I must play against 8th seed John Myers. game 1- John g/b/r? I didn't see much of his deck the games went fast. All I know is that a thousand little critters knocked on his door and he didn't have an answer for them all. He had no blockers due to a good swords draw on my part. I win. game 2- He is ready for me this time, he brings in Aether flash, 2 of them. No gloom, nor dreads. This surprised me. I brought in my sleights just in case. It was a good game; we both had exceptional draws, I think. It came down to him being at 2 life and no hand and me with one white shield on the board. He drew and played a sedge troll with which he could block and regenerate forever. I draw *SLIGHT OF MIND* my guy doesn't need protection from black he needs pro RED! I slight my dude and attack. I'm sucha lucky scrub! note: good games John I'm just glad I didn't see a flash. top four is... Kurt - ensnaring bridge/ cursed scroll net deck Paul - tax/armor Jamie Wakefield (creator of the wakefield sligh. ie. wildfires and orggs) And yours truly Brendan Reginbald - ww/u Kurt beats up on my pal Paul and I have to play my IDOL, trumpet sounds JAMIE WAKEFIELD more annoying trumpet sounds It comes down to this....... I'm holstering a ww hoard deck while he has his faithful sidekick of an artifact deck using "mishra's workshop" I will hold a wasteland just for him. Heh, he, he, he. And more evil laughter. The game begins with him dropping a scroll and me thinking "crap, I'm screwed. Wait a minute!!!!! Jamie only plays FAT, HOW DOES HE PLAN ON EMPTYING HIS HAND??? oh well, I'm sure he knows what he is doing." I see a war beast and some artifacts drop lightning fast. I'm in trouble, because I only have 4 swords and 4 disenchants for those juggernauts, war beasts, supermen, and others that are just soooooooo big. Compared to a weenie deck that is. I'm holding on, I'm gonna come back and win. Crap he just played a bottomless pit!!!!! I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die. I'm dead. He gave his usual better than average butt kicking and delivered it to me on a silver platter. But I'm not through yet!! Thunder and lightning sounds I still get to sideboard!!!! Yes I'm gonna win this next one and the one after that. *I hope* So I side in my 4 auras and my exiles and my e. flux and my slights. 10 cards say I'm gonna win but unfortunately they are nothing if I don't draw them. Anyway getting back to the game at hand....... He goes "mulligan" I take it even though I shouldn't have, because I had the 1 tax and could have filled my hand up while thinning my deck. But being the lucky scrub I am I get it again. Unfortunately I have the double wasteland draw. In my hand is a slight, tax, aura, disenchant and some crap. I play wasteland and he goes ritual-gloom. I'm gonna die!!!!!!! The 15 people watching the game see that I'm in trouble. But those standing behind me see the slight. I draw a dude and play another wasteland. He does something like ritual juggernaut or something scrubby like that and I go. draw plain and play it. I could really use one of my Adarkar Wastes. He goes for the beat down and hits me for 5. I go and draw ADARKAR WASTE and slight that mean gloom to black and disenchant the juggernaut. Yes, I feel special. The game has turned around and I can see perspiration building as jaime sees the predicament. He plays his second and third scroll down somewhere around this time. I draw and play an Aura Of Silence, I love the quietness this card gives me. Any way I start to play critters and beat him up. I win. He says that's the best comeback he's ever seen. Game 3- no boarding He has a real slow start and I just play weenies and more weenies and he is hosed because of a miscellaneous wasteland and strip mine and I win through a strong draw. I would just like to say that when someone is able to pull out a win against this man it has to be a miracle. Props and slops... I have none just kidding, Thanks again to Keith, Louise, and Jamie for letting me win.
