So Thursdays here and as usuall Chris Lamberts card shop in Tazwell Tennesee held a type 2 sanctioned tourney. Normally 200 miles is a bit far to drive for a tourney but the 100$ cash prize seemed to make it worth while. Do to some recent bad experiences with "Origianl" decks I decided to go the traditional straight red using the fantastic invasion plans. Well anyway heres the deck list. "Invasion Strike" 4 ball lightings 3 sandstalker (of the viashano variety) 4 mogg flunkies 4 goblin vandels 4 suq-ata' lancers 3 mogg fantastics 2 invasion plans 3 kindle 4 incinerate 4 cursed scroll 4 firebalsts 4 wastelands 17 mountains sideboard: 4 pyroblasts 2 havoc 1 detonate (HUGE) 2 shatter storms 3 mogg maniac 1 kindle 2 hand to hand round 1: loafy (real name I assume) SRB game 1: Sligh will normally take a deck thats main purpose is to torch the caster. Easy win here with multiple lancers. game 2: 1 land on a 5 card paris = death. :( game 3: See game 1. He did manage to get a shivan on the board the second game... 2-1 overall: 1-0 round 2: Keith somethignorother Druid deck. (piley or whatever you want to call it) game 1: mogg fantastic brings it home. game 2: I watch the combo work and he kills me befor i get 2 lands into play.. God that decks fast when it works... game 3: This one was interesting. It was a stand off for a while till he got a 4/4 revent out. He dances the druid and uses it's abillity unfortunitly this makes the revenant a 3/3 and i have a bombardment on the table..well what do you think of course i had 3 creatures... 4-2 overall: 2-0 round 3: Terry Street 5cG Terry is sort of a enigma. He's old and bald but he plays magic and D+D with us like he's one of the guys... Hope i age so well. game 1: Flaming hot death. he never see's a 5th mana and i never untap my permanats more then 6 times. Flunkies RULE!! game 2: He see's all his sideboard and all i can draw is land...Just call me Scrub. game 3: See game 1. Plus 3 side board cards detonated a winter orb for the win. 6-3 overall: 3-0 Looking good. 2 more rounds in a 5 round sanctioned tourney my rating is loving this. round 4: Kevin Ledford 5cG (where have I seen this befor?) game 1: round 1 mogg fanastic round 2 mogg flunky round 3 mogg flunky round 4 invasion plans Game. game 2: I could whine and cry about mana screw or bitch about bad draws but the simple truth is that he handed me my ass and I took it. game 3: See round 2. sigh defeat. 7-5 overall 3-1 game 5: Josh "Mr. Galobrade" black scub weenie game 1: He gets out in front of me fast using such great cards as frozen shade and abysal specter backed up with the ultra strong fallen angel. game 2: He Rides me like a pony. I got beat with a Galobrade A FREAKING GALOBRADE!!! WHAT THE FU@#! 7-7 over all 3-2 I make the final 8 in a 33 man tourney by the skin of my teeth (8th seed). So onto the finals. quaterfinals: Playing against Izahia. Using a unbeaten version of the druid deck. He has been bragging about winning the last 2 tourneys he has played in with this deck without taking a defeat. Ok. game 1: mogg fantaic and wastelands kick ass. 'Specially in multiples of 2 and 3. game 2: Combo Rolls. Sigh. game 3: He decides to be jerk and stare at the wall. Ok well I guess I have no other option...I start singing. see game 1 for the actual way I won. The fact that he drew 1 land didnt help matters. semi finals: Some Kid who has been doing real well with a rouge green black deck using mulch and revent. games 1 and 2: He's mana screwed I win. The only interesting part was when the guy from the quaters accuses me of cheating and interfers in the match.. Warning for him victory for me. finals: Josh. Galobrade/Fallen angel deck. We decide to draw as the combined 1st and 2nd place prize is 130$. Guess he's not such a scrub after all. In the non-qualified tourney one of the other members of team Solar Eclipse brought home the second place prize. What a great night over all. Props and Slops: Props go to Chris Lambert for running the most enjooyable tourney I can remeber in a while. And to Me for winning my first tourney in a little over a month. I was afraid I had forgotten how. Slops: No slops to mention for this one I had to much fun to0 get annoyed with anyone. B-) Well untill next time.
