T2 tourney at the Game Parlor on Monday. there was 4 rounds of swiss and top 8. I played a necro deck with some twists. 4 Necropotence 4 Disks 4 Drain Life 4 Stupor 2 Funeral Charm 3 Rain of Tear 1 Choking Sand 3 Diabolic Edict 1 Spinning Darkness 2 Necrosalvant 4 Steel Golem 3 Dark Ritual 4 Wasteland 3 Quicksand 18 Swamp SB 1 Perish 4 Bottomless Pit 2 Spinning Darkness 3 Terror 3 Choking Sands 2 Touchstone The LD idea was from a friend and I just took his deck and made some changes for strongald and removal. The bottomless pits are good vs counters but no one used them all day against me. I should have had a volrati Strongald but could not get one before the tourney. Round 1 vs Chris Yates playing THE TRAP Game 1 He get one land and does not mul. because he has many diamonds in hand but I take out his land and he falls to a steel Golem. He shows me the 2 Aura of Silences in his hand Game 2 I get more LD and he gets a Aura out before I can get rid of some land but I take out the land and play a Steel Golem. He sacs.the Aura and I lay a Necro. I find a Salvant and he dies to it. 1-0 Round 2 vs James ???????? playing B/r Game 1 I take him down with a salvant and 2 Steel Golems ( he edicted one away.) The few creatures he plays I kill Game 2 I get some good stuff into play but he manages to get some ok stuff. With a salvant in play I just "randomly" disk it away. He had stuff waiting in his hand. Game 3 He drops his hand fast and I lay the disk and use it. I stupor him and the cards are both edicts. So I funeral Charm him and see another edict. I lay my creatures with out fear and beat him down. 2-0 Round 3 vs Chris Montague playing Fair Oaks Sligh Game 1 He bets the living sh*t out of me. With lots of weenie 1/1 and His "balls" Game 2 I get a good draw with 2 spinning darknesses and later draw necrosalvant after necrosalvant. I kill him easy. Game 3 The early game was going his way with lots of fast creatures. I decide to stupor and take one more turn of damage. He discards 2 Shatters. I lay the disk and kill his creatures with 5 cards left in my hand and none in his. I drop a steel Golem and he draws a scroll. At this race he would win. But I manage to draw LD after LD so he could not scroll no longer. He had to fireblast my Golem which brought him down to no land and I draw another golem. 3-0 Round 4 vs. Joel Preist playing El' Nino Game 1 He draw no removel for my first turn Golem and falls to it. His last draw was a sex monkey but could not play it because of lack of land:) Game 2 I find out how much a early armegeddon hurts necro and lose. Game 3 I get complete control with a necro in play. He had nothing in play and I keep necro'ing and come up with nothing and I am at 1 life, I concede. 3-1 Top 8 1 Joel Preist playing El' Nino 8 Chris Yates playing THE TRAP 3 Jamie Burish playing Counter-Hammer 6 ?????? ?????? playing Black Discard 4 Me playing Skotusptotence 5 ?????? ?????? playing big creature Green with Fling 2 Don Galitz playing El' Nino 7 ?????? ?????? playing Stompy with Elven Rite Quarter Finals Game 1 He plays an elf and I Charm him. that seems to be his only land and I destroy it. He does not look happy. Game 2 He gets a huge creature and I edict but it get flinged at me. That was all his steam and he losses. 1 Joel Preist 3 Jamie Burish 4 Me 7 ?????? ??????, YES thank god Donnie lost Semi Finals Game 1 He plays the 2/2 creature that goes to the person with the highest life total first turn. He double Rites him and I have NO Edict or disk or something Game 2 He eats both of my necrosalvant after I disk away his threat. Game 3 He get me down to 7 and I lay a disk on his turn I do some weird things to stay alive, He had 2 cetaurs and an Rogue I had to Sand the Rogue to stay at one. He say 'I will give you mad props if you win this game', I'm waiting for them. Finals I ask Joel if he wants to split because I know he has a good deck but he declines. The games go like the ones in the 4th round except I get something when I necro and WIN the tounry. Ken Russell
