My name is Adrian Yeo...This is just a tournament report from W.A (australia) from the last T2 tournament which was on the 28th of March. This is my first T2 tournament in perth so i didn't know what type of decks the pple played here... I had been out of touch from the tourny scene for about 2 month coz i went to singapore for the holidays... The night b4 the tournament i made 3 decks and tested them against my other T2 decks.... I had made a 5CB, Monstery and a squandered stasis !!! I went to the tournament wif all three decks.... and handed up my deck list for my squandered stasis but then i realized that i had put some stronghold cards inside, so i had to change deck last minute before the tournament started... I chose my 5CB deck coz, i've played this deck at other tournaments b4 and it's quiet a stable deck.... Anyways, now on wif my report.... There were 5 rounds of swiss and then top 4 play off.... 1st Round vs Bottle Gnomes/Corpse dance/Necro The first match was quiet bad for me.... my opponent mananged to get all his four bottle gnomes on the board and i couldn't find an answer for them.... he necro-ed till he got his corpse dance and had huge card advantage and i knew i was in a lot of trouble coz i was stupored and agonized.... I knew i there was no come back from there..... so i conceded the first game... I knew my S/b woould help me a lot.... After sideboard i smashed my opponent twice because i s/b in winter orbs, knights of the mists,disenchants and a uktabi orgutan... he's knights and disks were all distroyed and when he tapped out i played a winter orb which just shut he's deck down... he couldn't stop my creatures and i swarmed him.... The third round ended quickly coz his only land was 3 gemstone mines.... i swarmed him again wif my creatures then incinerated him to death.... 2nd Round vs White Weenie/maro skin(imperial armor) This was quiet an easy match... I was confident againts pure white weenie... I played a few protection from white creatures and bounce & killed his protection from black creatures wif my man-o-wars, diabolic edict, incinerates and kindles.... i suspected that my opponent would have s/b light of day and maybe COP black so i sided in my knights of the mists, winter orb and disenchants... i was correct when my opponent played his light of day.... i sat back and waited for my disenchant.... it took about 5-7 turns b4 my disenenchat turned up.... then i commenced beatdowm !!!! 3rd Round vs Mono-blue THis was also another easy match.... first game my opponent was mana screwed and i stomped him wif my creatures.... sorta same thing happend for the 2nd game too... didn't see much of his deck except his islands and a few counter spells.... =) 4th round vs Control Sligh/Bottle gnomes in main !!!! I was expecting to face a sligh deck sooner or later.... I lost both games.... even after i s/b my 4 honorable passage, 1 COP red, 1 uktabi orgutan and my 2 disenchants..... the reason for this was because i s/b out the wrong cards.... don't know what i was thinking either... i was burnt and scrolled to death.... My opponent won both games and i needed to win the next round to make it into the top 4... my opponent came top of swiss after the 5 rounds... 5th round vs Trap/w winter-orb + counters I was expecting to lose the first round but too my suprize my opponent was mana screwed for the first few turns and i took advantage of this and commenced beatdown hitting him wif all i had... and burnt him to death.... after s/b i was confident on killing him.... 2nd game was also quiet a fast one.... i played a few creatures and he tutored for a diamond which ment he was mana screw again so i uktabi orguntan his diamond to slow down his lock.... he finanly got his propaganda on the table but i disencahnted it and kept on beating him diwn...... he then tutored for another propaganda ( he had a winter orb was on the table too) which got pyroblast.... \ I made it to top 4 and i had to vs the same guy i played 4th round... sligh but this time i wasn't going to make the same mistake when i s/b !!! Semi finals vs Sligh I got to a good start this game.... 1st turn shadow guildmage, 2nd turn black knight, 3rd turn man-o war etc etc... then i commenced beatdown !!! this time i s/b out my diabolic edict for honorable passages instead of kindles which was my mistake i made in the 4th round against this deck which cost me the game !!! this time round however i won and made it to the finals.... yeah, thank god for the curse of top of swiss... Finals vs Monstery..... I was going to play this deck also but changed my mind.... anyways... when i play tested at home, monstery won 8 out of 10 games !!! i wasn't confident against my opponent.... this wasn't really a close game at all... my opponent laid his humility/omri's prayer and jester's caped me 1st game so i conceded hoping that my s/b maybe could help me beat him.... 2nd round i beat him down to single digit life total... he then gerry's a few times putting him over 20 lives.... W.O.G. and the layed down his humility/ormi's prayer/grindstone and then jester's capped my twice... i knew there was no way i could win now so i just conceded and took second place...
