I figured I give another little tournement report, again with no war stories(ie drove 4 hoours, got no sleep, ate nothing etc....) just the facts, and some humor. A little background information. I am the same Will Ayers that beat Mike Wolfenburger in the Maryland Magic, and incidently won the tournement, putting $125 in my pocket. Thanks G for playing mono-green in the finals,monogreen vs bloom=bye for bloom (Mike wrote a report for 4cw, check it out).When Mike said I was the luckiest guy in magic, he actually meant two things,1 lucky doesnt mean that I aided luck, and 2 Luck in prosbloom means skill. True nuff any scrub can win with bloom on an awesome draw, but thats the same with any deck, chicken armor, the "I'm a good player" deck, 5cg, mondo blue etc, but when you are missing one part of the combo, its starts getting really hard. Bloom takes more thought than any other deck, barring pox, but thats just because pox takes too much math.Incidently, I'm 15/0/1 with this deck in sanctioned tournements MY Decklisting 4 squandered resources 4 natural balance 4 cadeverous bloom 4 impulses 4 vampiric tutor 4 prosperity 4 infernal contract 2 meditate 4 powersink 1 drain life 1 abayance ( or city of Sol) I chose abay this time. both have advantages 6 forest 5 swamp 4 island 1 bad river 4 gemstone mine 4 city of brass SB: 3 emerald charms 2 perish 4 pyroblast 2 memory lapse 1 library of leng 2 pygmy hippo 1 warmth ANYWAY, OFF TO THE TOURNEMENT there are 5 rounds of swiss with a final 4 so.... Round 1 Christain Lowry Christain is a newbie, playing one of my decks. He's playing chicken armor with 3 disenchants standard, with 4 auras in the sideboard, so I know it would be quick, either way it went. Game 1... im manascrewed, so it goes chicken armor,whack whack, dead Game 2... he's manascrewed, so it goes squandered balance bloom contract contract pros........drain Game 3... he is manascrewed again, i wait and wait and wait, could go off but dont want to,powersink a tithe, so he cant get land. i went off without balancing so he didnt have the land to dis Round 2 Nathan ------- Nathan always plays pox, always, no matter how bad, he always plays pox Game 1... He goes first, swamp rit pox, discards a collasus of sardia aw shit, wheres the shallow grave. i discard excess land. we we wait a few turns, play land. theres the shallowe grave. wham, im at 4 and i like it, but he peters out and i get top decking skilllz... so bloom+ 20 pt drain Game 2... He goes first. swamp ritual.........necro. necro and pox in the same deck. huh. he then procedes to stopor and coerse my hand away. No top deck skillz. i die to a derelor( in a mono black deck) Game 3... Just call mne the greater deity of prosblooom. or luck. I draw most of my combo, with 3 sinks just for his discard, and go off after i run out of sinks Turns out he has a transformation sideboard, so both necro and pox arent in at the same time John DeAngelo( diffrent from the rules guy) John always plays red. blast. He thinks bolt is better than ancestral recall because three damagge is better than three cards, he thinks. despite that, he is actually a good player. Game 1... Turns out he's playing karplusian forests, so i cant wait till game 2. fireblasts, pyroblasts and tranquil domains, fun, who hoo. He goes 1st pup, turn 2 pup pup, i play squandered turn 2, because speed is essential and i am betting he doesnt have enchantment removal standard. he plays ball lightning, i sink down in my seat, he attacks. six im at.my turn, double balance, he fireblasts twice so i cant vampiric, but it doesnt help, as he likes getting drained, too bad for him. Game 2... He's a bad player and only draws 2 land, which is fine because his deck only needs 2 mana except for ball lightnings. I get a decent draw and abayance him befor i start the combo to stop the pyros and the tranqs who whoooo HAPPY DANCE Round 3 Chris Henly He's playing humility prayer, with propagandas and wraths, he ony has 16 dead cards against me, so he doesn't have a prayer ( except for orim's) Game 1... He gets the humility orims prayer lock. i say damn, my nekratalls are no good now. he belives me. he loses like a chump Game 2... see game 1.. he had no enchantment removal standard or sideboard, except for capsize, so...... Round 4 Atley Hunt Game 1...me land .him land rit 2 sarcomancy and a pit imp. me land. him take 6. me land squandered, him land take 5 black knight. me land .him take 8 , ebony charm for 1. i sink. i drain him for 20 Game 2... see game 1. black w/o discard gives me a virtual bye Round 5... Brian...... Game 1 He's playing 5cg, he gets real agressive, does some neat ranger tricks, and tries to geddon with a rider on the table. i ssay NO NO NO. I sink .I bloom Game 2 this time he does geddon with a rider on the table Game 3 hes a bad player and draws 2 paradises as his only land. i win due to him giving me 6 timewalks due to his land precicament Semifinals Chris Henly. with humility deck if you have a deck with 16 dead cards against somebody, you are losing game 1. period. end of story. with that Off to game 2 Game 2... he wises up to 60, and i concede cause i cant drain for that much Game 3... double paradise again. i win. not a good story. thats it. Finals Jeff Opelik Mono Green. he offers to split 50/50. i say no. monogreen=bye Game 1.... I get a bad draw. bad draw. 5 land ,a squandered, and a drain is not strong. in go the perishes. Game 2... He gets mana screwed. with stompy. i dont understand. but thats life. Game 3....
