Friday night my girlfriend go out because the tourney on Saturday starts at 5:30 and she has to work that day from 4:00 till 10:00. We go out to an expensive dinner and catch a movie, "Good Will Hunting". The movie was okay, but I thought it was a little dull... I get home at 1:30am on Saturday. i sit down and look at the deck I've been toying with for two days...it looks like crap. My only hope is that I can borrow the dual lands and demonic tutor for the tourney. After work, I head down to the shop and borrow the approiate cards. This is the finbal deck: White: 4 Swords to Plowshares (required for white) 3 Ivory Gargoyles (Works wonders with Necro) 3 Disenchants (It's a type one tourney :) ) 1 Balance (Ba-roken) Black: 4 Hymns to Tourach (mmmmmmm.....strong) 4 Diabolic Edicts (Pro white??? Yeah, so?) 3 Hypnotic Specters (Ba-roken) 2 Stupor (Really sux. I sided it out every time) 2 Necropotence (STRONG!!!!!!) 1 Demonic Tutor Green: 3 Ernham Djinnis (Phat) 1 Regrowth (I balance twice) 2 Gaea's blessings ( I tutored 4 times in a game thanks to this) Atrifact: 4 Fellwar Stones (My deck ran little land...this really helped.) 1 Zuran Orb (Clutch for Necro) 1 Ivory Tower (Clutch for Necro) 1 Sol Ring (Good for early stones) Land: 4 Scrublands 4 Savannah 4 Bayou 4 Mishra's Factories 3 Cities of Brass 1 Urborg (Hey! I used it's ability! :) ) Round One: John Meyers (Type 2 Necro with Sengirs, Hymns, Orb, Hyppie, Knights) This match really bit. I get mana hosed both games and die. Thats what I get for not shuffleing my deck well enough. First turn I go; Mishra, sol ring, done. Second turn; Mishra, use ring, attack for three....that was all I played that game. Record: 0/1/0 Round Two: Ron (buried alive) This was a hard match...I took the first one, then lost the second. In the third match, I drew 11 land in a row from turn one. I finally get a Gaea's and us it...I draw Necro. I hold of...I draw Mangaa's Blessing (Sideboard) and then an orb..(by now i was down to 5 life). I necro like a fiend and get some elimination and phatty gargoyles to win the game. Record: 1/1/0 Round Four: Michelle (Counter postish...but not as good) This match was a pain to play. Michelle plays those long army magic games...but only uses 3 natural creatures...the rest is outposts. I win the first one because of Necro and Erhnams. Game two I side in teo helms of obedience and mill her to death. Record: 2/1/0 Round Four: Leon (Zoo) Bastard got first turn vice game one. Game two I get mana hosed and hold off forever waiting to draw a land. Record: 2/2/0 Round Five: Ian (black necro without necro) Ian is a new phish. He doesn't understand Mishra's factory so I beat the hell put of him with it. Record: 3/2/0 Yes!! Made Top eight!! I play Ira right off in the top eight. He's got most of the big ten and I expect to get housed. I pull it off with my superior necro/ hymn control. Game two he's mana hosed, I win. Next is Zim. Zim has most of the Big ten too, but he doesn't like Hymns. I win game one barely. Game two is close...I tutro for my orb with my necro out and lok at my hand...REGROWTH! I Use the tutor for the fourth time that match (first two were for land and a hymn) and grab my tower. I house Zim because I have total control of my life total. Final round, John Meyers. I hate his deck. He got the greatest draws against me and i lose the first game. Game two I messed up and tutored for necro instead of balance when I didn't have enough life....oops! I think second is pretty damn good for a kid who is to busy to play because he's always with his girlfriend. ;) Josh Trudeau, The Magus Poor guy who loses to mana screw consecutively. Amy is da bomb.
