Subject: Stronghold Pre-release report (Louisiana) Date: Wed, 25 Feb 1998 14:53:10 -0500 (EST) From: rbleiwe@panix.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Since there was only one other report, and my friends insisted that I write about the unusual deck I got at the pre-release, here it comes :) No one round stood out unusually, but the synergy of my deck was amazing.. Never before have I gotten a sealed deck that won by LOCK! My Deck: CREATURES: 1 Crovax the Cursed 1 Corrupting Licid 2 Wall of Souls 1 Dauthi Mercenery 1 Dauthi Marauder 1 Soltari Lancer 1 Youthful Knight 1 Venerable Monk 1 Soltari Monk 1 Master Decoy 1 Coiled Tinviper ----- TOTAL: 12 creatures CREATURES THAT AREN'T CREATURES: 1 Spirit Mirror 1 Lab Rats ------- Total: 14 Cards 1 WAY IN MY ENTIRE DECK TO KILL THE OPPONENT: 1 Brush with Death ------- Total: 15 Cards EIGHTS WAYS TO NOT DIE 1 Ensnaring Bridge 1 Cannabalize 1 Dark Banishing 1 Diabolic Edict 1 Orim's Prayer 1 Annoint 1 Bullwhip 1 Winds Of Rath ----- Total: 23 Cards. LAN, LAND, LAND: 7 Swamps 7 Plains 3 Forests ---- Total: 40 Cards. NOTES: I want a deck like this one every time I can... 1) Ensnaring Bridge shut everyone down. Allowed me to attack with impunity, With my 4 Shadow creatures, or a creature with Corrupting licid on it. 2) Crovax W/SPirit Mirror and Lab Rats was Sick. 3) Bullwhip and Wall of Souls was sick. 4) Orim's Prayer and Ensnaring Bridge and Bullwhip and Wall of Souls is sick. 5) The only round I lost all day, to Scheadau (Pronounced Shadow) was because he had this huge fattie deck--I beat him game one without the bridge, and never drew it games 2 and 3 (He had no artifact destruction, it would have shut him off) Team Tulane (4 members this time) Finished #1(Brian Jenkins), #3(Ben Bleiweiss, ME) #5 (Eric Lewandowski, AKA SPambob, Creator of Netdraft) See you all in LA, Ben Bleiweiss DCI Ranked #27 in Sealed, 1952.
