So i try to give a report on a PTQ for LA in Germany / Bremen . I live in one of the major magic scene here in Germany namely Hamburg . We have done a lot of practice for EXT which is the format of speed . I do not know a single format which is faster than EXT and EXT is the format of cursed scroll . Everybody except Tongo Nation and Fruity Beeples plays it , so if your Decks dies through a cursed scroll don't go to the Battlefield The Field in Bremen was about 80 People and we played 7 round of swiss . I must apologize for not took track of the names of my opponents but what are names for ? Here is the Deck i finally choose as my way to go : 16 Forest 4 Mishra 4 Fyndhorn Elves 1 Llanowar Elves 4 Quiron Ranger 4 River Boa 4 Spectral Bears 4 Joraels Centaur 4 Yavimaya Ants 4 Cursed Scroll 4 Giant Growth 1 Bounty of the Hunt ( Sometimes crap sometimes Great ) 1 Emerald Charm ( Nothing to do in the main deck ) 3 Uktabi Oragnutan 2 Rogue Elephants ( They suck definitely always go the Sideboard) Sideboard : 4 Wasteland 2 Lhurgoyfs 2 Primal Order 1 Bounty of the Hunt 3 Emerald Charm 2 Tranquil Groove ( this card is awesome) 1 Uktabi Orangutan and the end of this report i will show my correct deck version that i used for the next PTQ . Round One 1. I started with forest Quirion Ranger and it looks like my opponent begins to sweat , because i played a LANDDESTRUCTOR ( crazy idea ) which can't handle a quirion except with a wrath or disk . So he had a useless hand i start to beat him in a very easy match . 2. Nearly the same except that he side boarded Kismet against the Ant - strong move - 1:0:0 Round Two True Blue I didn't make a single Test against this kind of deck because i thought it is too slow for EXT. 1.He wins the toss and goes first but he drew much more land then he would have needed and stompy don't give you the chance of a bad draw . 2.The second game was quite interesting. I went first and played a second turn river boa which get force of willed ! He does nothing on his turn and i played another river boa . He plays Suq'ata'Firewalker . Shitty for me . I attack and summon a bear and a elf. He plays the Devil - Ophidian - . Things start to getting worse. He timmed the boa in my Upkeep and i respond with a Giant Growth . I drew Ants - great draw - I played the ants with him on 17 life he does nothing I attack with ant , boa , elf and bear . He does NOT block i play another giant growth and he does not counter so i tell him the he gets 17 Damage . He counts my attackers and says that he will only get 14 Damage and i knew why he does nothing on my attack he did forget about the Giant Growth in my upkeep . Damn thing for him ;) 2:0:0 Round Three Against the Vice World Champion Janosch Kuehn who plays his deck now called Tongo Nation 1.I draw 1 Forest and 2 Mishra's not bad at all but he played second turn dwarven miner -- game for him . 2.In go the Primal Order . He played third turn frenetic efreet and taps out on my turn i play Primal Order leaving him with 3 nonbasic lands and a fred . game for me 3.He is manascrew - game 3:0:0 good start Round Four Against Texaco 1. I draw 5 Lands on my opponing Hand draw another 2 and i played 4 turn RATHI DRAGON -- i lost 2. Nearly the excact mirror game he played 4 turn RATHI DRAGON ( i wish i play blue ... ) -- i lost 3:1:0 Round Five Mono Red This green Deck wins nearly always against Mono Red burn , because giant growth saves my critters and an incinerate only hurts once a spectral bear comes back ;) 1. I had the Bounty in my hand has he earthquake for 3 -- game 2. He drew nearly all his critters i drew the infamous cursed scroll and played the weenie control - game over 4:1:0 Round Six Against one of my greatest Fear the Probaprison . 1. The first game went like a film for him second turn stone third turn propaganda fourth turn Geddon . I conceded . 2. In go the Primal Order i had the absolute god draw leaving him with no chance at all . First turn Elves . Second turn mishra , spectral bear , quirion ranger elf and so on . 3. He plays an early Wildfire Emissary and totally stalls me but i drew the primal order and he didn't manage to draw on of his 4 disenchants and dies ;-) 5:1:0 Round Seven 1. He played a good punch of green Critters ( boa's , centauren , and granger guild mages ) and stormbind and cursed scroll. I Won the toss and selected to start. I play LLanwar Elf - He played Granger Guild Mage , a first turn tim sucks definitely for my deck . In my turn i play a spectral bear and a quirion Ranger . I decided to start the beat down and pray that he will not lay a mountain . He lays --- mountain but than he made a great mistake he played a boa instead of shooting a something . I go for the attack and totally empty my hand except for a cursed scroll and a giant growth . Next turn he shoots at my quirion i giant growth it . I draw a land and cursed scroll his mage and during the next rounds him to death . 2. In go the Lhurgoyfs He managed to get a an early Stormbind and binds away 9 of my creatures he had no cards in hand me neither - i drew Lhurgoyf and game . 6:1:0 So i finished second after swiss not to bad i thought so i made my way into the Top 8 My Opponent was a woman (nice surprise) who a knew fairly good . 1. It look like that she is a bit mana short because she has to vampiric tutor for land . The game was not interesting cause she played nothing except two Hymn to tourach and a disk which was a great meal for my uktabi 2. Second game was a close match she played second turn hymn , third turn hymn and tutor for a disk and fourth turn disk . I had manage to deal about 10 damage for me but know my hand was empty and i had 2 forest and a mishra in play . She had just summoned a black knight and also had one mishra. I draw Quirion Ranger -play the ranger and attack with my mishra . She looks at me strangely because i had no card in hand and than she made the mistake which cost her the game she decided to block with her black knight. I untapped the mishra with my quirion ranger and tapped it to make the mishra 3/3 black knight dies game for me . So know it goes for the flight against Jon Scarth who plays a Sedge Troll , Hymn , Bolts , Cursed Scroll and Green for Orangutans . 1. I had to do the first mulligan in the entire tournament - game for him 2. I had no chance against the sedge troll combined with an early contagion He wins the 2 games easy .
