NecroDeck, Chapter V: Apr '97 - Present

Ice Age left Type II play on January 1st, 1997, and with it the NecroDeck... but now, with the release of 5th Edition, Necropotence re-enters the card mix. Will it be able to dominate as it has previously? The shakeup of 5th Edition leaves the traditional NecroDeck without the Hypnotic Specter and Sengir Vampire, formerly Black's two strongest creatures. The NecroDeck regains the Knights of Stromgald (IA Pump Knight), Mindstab Thrull, Abyssal Specter, Mind Warp, and Evil Eye of Orms-by-Gore. Not exactly a fair trade, but a reasonable trade considering what happened to the other colors in the 5th Edition set. There are also some interesting additions from the Visions set, which will have their first workout in a TII NecroDeck (Nekrataal, Coercion). The challenge now is, how to re-implement the Necro strategy of severe disruption, fast-powerful creatures, and card advantage. How this strategy will be implemented at a maximal level is anybody’s guess, although an early (and somewhat crude) guess would be:
