Subject: Re: *PRESS RELEASE* George Baxter to Join PCL From: "Brian Hacker" Date: 1997/06/09 Scott, Wait just a second here homie! My original post about pro tour New York told of us losing money to PCL and congratulated Mark for his fine performance at N.Y. As for the draft we did the night before, I honestly forgot about it and besides I didn't mention any of the twenty dollar drafts I did (which numbered about 6) but I mentioned that we lost money to you boys anyway. Besides, I didn't even play one of you guys in the draft. Second, all the shit I gave Baxter, I gave straight to his face when he told me in N.Y., so if he has a problem with it, he could have told it to me there. I think George is an outstanding person and I have defended him on this very thread, Scott. Also, I might add that Mario's press release was well timed with George's "brothers" thing in the Duelist. Last, as far as writing about only selected matches and themes, notice I did not mention how you and Mario called us out in N.Y. during dinner and then after accepting the match, found other tournaments to enter. If I really wanted to blast you guys, I would have mentioned this ducking technique. As far as mentioning when things don't go my way (or my team's way) read the whole thing I posted about N.Y.! If you think I don't want to post how you guys beat us, think how bad it was getting 4-0ed by a team with Paul McCabe on it. I poked fun at myself throughout that whole post. Besides, I think you guys are competent enough with a typewriter to post your own experiences as far as beating us down; I shouldn't have to do it for you. I've even mentioned that I can't beat you in type 2, in another post on this newsgroup. I think I'm like 0-4 against you. I didn't lie or duck the truth. Nobody on this newsgroup wants to hear about when I go to a tourny and go 2-2 and drop out. When it happens, I don't post it. When I do well, I post a report and if I happened to beat one of your boys, then I talk about it. As far as a 2nd grade mentality is concerned, why did you choose to attack our performance at NY and regionals? Why didn't you send all this to me in private? Hell, why didn't you mention it to me this weekend? I was there. I've never ever said anything publicly negative about PCL's performance at isolated events. That would be childish and unfair. However, it doesn't seem like a tactic that you won't use. Look at your post, Scott. It wasn't intended to be mild or funny. Truth is Scott, 3/4 of our team will probably be available to go to nationals (and we stayed home), and we did fine at NY (John-ninth,Truc-23rd). This season we had 6 top eight finishes. That is remarkable results for a four man team and very few teams would try to call us out on performance. I frankly don't understand where you're coming from Scott. Give me any specific example of something I've said that you think is inappropriate. I've never gotten negative feedback about my tourny reports. Most people, I believe, think that they are funny and a little too outrageous to be taken seriously. In my Paris report, I talked more about clubbing than Magic. We have even made public jokes about copying Mario's decks. As far as Baxter goes, once again, I've mentioned that I think Baxter is a fine individual and I've defended him on this newsgroup. I also don't think that he should be on PCL. I meant what I said. If you guys can't handle me exercising my right to free speech and coming out and saying that somebody shouldn't talk about their brothers on one side and abandon them on the other, then you guys are way too sensative. You found all of our shit-talking with Team ass-kicker funny but as soon as you guys get lampooned, all of the sudden the paradigm changes. Stop taking yourself so seriously.
