Subject: Grim Reaper by the (or possibly a) creator Date: 18 Dec 1997 03:24:25 GMT From: "Harlequin" Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy Now, I have been attempting to keep this deck a secret so that I could have a chance at qualifying in about 3 weeks here in Seattle, but that's not gonna happen now that somebody either stole or thought this up themselves (although with the amount of dojo xeroxing, the latter is not likely to happen) There are two ways to win. The first, which I prefer, uses rampant growth (and harrow, depending on how you like it) to get out four land, intuitons and tutors for any part of the combo which it doesn't have, then does the infinite kill combo during the opponent's discard. The only control in it is 3 disrupts vs. armageddon, stupor, and hymn, and 1 power sink vs. dissipates on the incinerate. The second is more like fruity pebbles in that all you need do is counter everything until you get the combo. Both are green/blue with incinerate for the kill. Both are type two, and I don't think that adding any extended cards would help it out at all, but thats just my opinion (I've only been tweaking for about 3 weeks). For those of you who want to add force of will, have fun it doesn't work. The idea is to get out a medallion and four land (all green) or 6 land (at least 4 green, no medallion needed). Cast early harvest, reap it, early harvest, reap, early harvest, etc. with one mana extra each time you hit 1 billion mana eventually, rampant growth for whatever land you need, whispers for whatever cards you need, incinerate-incinerate-incinerate-incinerate-incinerate-incinerate-win. Deck 1: Fast. 4 Reap 4 Prismatic Lace 4 Early Harvest 3 Emerald Medallion (or harrow for no permanents at all) 4 Whispers of the Muse 4 Mystical Tutor 4 Intuition 4 Impulse 4 Rampant Growth 3 Disrupt 1 Incinerate 1 Power Sink 6 Island 4 Mountain 10 Forest The only permanents in the entire deck are land and the emerald medallion, which makes it difficult to beat without EARLY armageddon, EARLY winter orb, EARLY hand destruction, or EARLY counterspells. Since I'm giving this whole thing away to you damn xeroxers, I'm not going to add a sideboard. The only reason I'm even doing this is so that I am known (at least partially) for the new prosbloom. Yes it is the new prosbloom, now there are two in the type 2 environment and this one will go off during your damn discard. There are 3 in the extended environment - the 2 or 3 good players who qualify for LA are going to rake in the dough. Deck 2: Control Never mind I hate counterspells, figure it out for yourself. I don't know why I'm giving away my damn good ideas to you copying scrubs. Since I am really pissed off at the moment, for all you blue-bitch players out there, here's what to counter: Reap, Prismatic Lace. Here's when to use Tormod's Crypt: After they Intuition. Here's when to hymn, stupor, armageddon, or winter orb: when they have no untapped islands -- Harlequin, who has never once copied a deck from the Dojo or from this newsgroup and is really pissed off that he has to post this deck so that he has proof he invented the new free-for-everybody-to-copy prosbloom.
