Subject: [Deck] 5CG Meta Date: Mon, 15 Dec 1997 16:36:22 +0100 From: Kofert Please Critique this 5CG-Deck which I have built for playing in the German Magic League. Because the environment is mainly Sligh and Big Blue I tried to build a kind of Meta Deck. But this deck should still be strong against other deck types. So i decided to play a standard 5CG-Deck and made some small modifications: 1.I replaced disenchants with Giant Growth to protect my creatures from DD and to get my Boa's around a Quicksand. 2.I only play with 2 MoW and 2 Memory Lapse because they are less useful against Sligh 3.I play 2 Worbs and 2 Armageddons because the Worbs can be played early against Big Blue and the Geddons are more effective against Sligh. In the sideboard I included 6 cards vs Sligh and 6 vs Big Blue: 4 Pyroblast 4 Hydroblast 2 CoP:Red 2 Terror(easy to kill even the big flyers and Suq'Ata's) 3 Disenchants(mainly against disk's, but i can't imagine another use for them) Finally, the deck looks like this: 4 Granger Guildmage 4 Undiscovered Paradise 4 Quirion Ranger 3 Gemstone Mine 4 Birds of Paradise 1 City of Brass 4 River Boa 10 Forest 4 Jolrael's Centaur 4 Maro 4 Giant Growth 2 Memory Lapse 2 Man-O-War 2 Terror 4 Incinerate 2 Armageddon 2 Winter Orb Questions: 1. Do I need Disenchants in the main Deck ? 2. Should I replace some creatures with Derelors ? 3. Are there creatures which are more effective against Sligh AND Big Blue than the creatures I play with ? 4. How is the general performance of a 5CG-Deck against the field(against the "Decks to Beat" at the Dojo)? 5. Is there a better possibility to design a metadeck against Sligh and Big Blue? Thanks in advance, Dominik Kofert
