It has proved fairly flexible and effective, while still maintaining enough quick creature/burn elements to win as a sligh deck. The Living Death is probably my favorite card in Tempest (favorite, not most powerful). The deck is meant to make your own creatures killable (Captains, Tinkers, Ball Lighting, Blood Pets, and Fanatics all have the ability to kill themselves, Captains can kill the Ironclaws, and the Bombardment makes everything sacable), so that you might end up with a fat graveyard while inflicting lots o' damage. Then Living Death for a quick pounding. This deck isn't perfect. I have messed with it alot, and have several times messed with the mix of different creatures. The pyroblast/tinker/miner/hand to hand mix does fairly well in messing up artifacts and enchantments, although on occaison I have gotten completely smoked. So it goes. My original version didn't have the Orcs at all, but featured Wildcats and Keepers of Kookus in their place. I regret the loss of both whenever I fight another mono-red sligh deck... but blue is big here and I need all my sidebar. Overall, the Orc Captain's random pump action serves better in most cases, as it makes each Orc into a very dangerous, albeit random, creature, and it is very nice in situations where the Orc would die anyway. The Disintegrate/Torch controversy is the one that I think needs the most help, as a resolution would clear up two spaces in the sidebar. However, both have major advantages. The former removes creatures from the game, eliminating them from resurrection by the Living Death, while the latter is harder to counter and works well against those damn blue decks that always leave two islands untapped. I also regularly cycle the Pallimuds in and out. When they work, they work extremely well... but I also like the Sandstone Warriors very much. I have not decided which works better. All advice on this and other topics welcome ('cept for spelling and grammar).
