Date: Wed, 20 Aug 1997 15:40:31 -0400 From: Steve Bowler Subject: Sandipoise Revision After receiving an enourmous amount of constructive criticism and advice on the sandipoise theory, I have constructed a basic deck which has yet to be play tested: Land: 2x Quicksand 3x Adarkar Wastes 2x Undiscovered Paradise 8x Island 5x Plains Artifact: 2x Sky Diamond 3x Mana Vault 4x Sands of Time 3x Serrated Arrows White: 3x Equipoise 2x Enlightened Tutor 3x Armageddon 2x Taniwha 4x Air Elemental 2x Vodalian Illusionist 2x Ancestral Knowledge 4x Force of Will 3x Arcane Denial 2x Counter Spell 1x Flood Sideboard has not been created yet, I don't list sideboards because they're usually more dependant upon a players field. Some sideboard ideas include: flood, serrated arrows, wrath of god, kismet (I see alot of sandstalkers), blue elemental blast, gerrards wisdom, phyrexian furnace and whatever else tickles your fancy. In response to the black knight/pump knights problem, I added serrated arrows, quicksand and flood. Vodalian Illusionist can fix Wildfire Emissary. There is an obvious lack of creature removal in this deck. I figured it was time to draw the line, the deck gets the combo, or loses; there is no room to play games with creatures. Play the deck well, know what to counter, and don't blow the arcane's on crap just to get another card! Sandipoise is a difficult deck to play well in a tournament environment. Play the deck to get used to it, it will give you an advantage over surprised opponents. Realize the problem that Sands of Time "divides" your permanents into two groups, I call them phases. Get your lands and permanents in sync and know how you're going to win the game. The deck just listed was put together quickly, if you have any advice, please e-mail me! My name is actually Chris Bowler, I use my brothers e-mail account.
