Subject: New Urza's deck, Saunders Cycle! Date: Thu, 15 Oct 1998 14:00:05 -0700 From: "Patricia Close" To: Hi Frank. Here is a new deck I really think will take the tournament scene by storm. Allright, I've been working on this deck for quite awhile, and it seems pretty strong right now, so I present to you, Saunders Cycle, version one (yeah, I named it after myself. I got help from some Turbo Zvi guy. :-P ) 4 Living Death 4 Gamble 4 Fluctuator 3 Tolarian Winds 2 Goblin Bombardments 1 Scroll Rack 2 Sandbar Merfolk 2 Drifting Djinns 4 Sandbar Serpent 4 Disciple of Law 4 Disciple of Grace 4 Pendrell Drake 4 Sulforous Springs 2 Cities of Brass 4 Poluted Mire 3 Mountain 3 Island 3 Smoldering Crater 2 Remote Isle 1 Swamp The object of this deck is pretty simple. If you don't draw a fluctuator in your opening hand, you'll probably have a gamble. First turn, gamble, and get a fluctuator. You usually don't lose it. Then, next turn, play the fluctuator, and start chucking critters that turn. Cycle the land if need be, if you don't feel you have enough critters in the graveyard. Eventually you'll hit a standstill. Play Torlarian Winds, and get a new batch of junk to cycle, Eventually keep your hand and your living death, and living death away. On about 3-4 turn, try to play bombardment, you can attack with your critters, throw em at your opponent, and living death again. The deck has trouble with burn (which will die soon anyways), suicide black (same with it) and heavy counter decks. A lot of my sideboard will be anti blue, and anti white (breaks bad.) If you wanna make the deck, make sure you share the name and who you got it from to all your friends! Thanks. Nathan Saunders, aka NBS KID
