Subject: Deck List (Perhaps needs help) Date: Thu, 08 Oct 1998 12:22:19 PDT From: "Zopa None" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Frank: Here's the deck I've been working with for the Rath-Cycle Rome Qualifiers. It's gone through a number of minor changes over the past couple of months, and I feel it's probably hit that well-known "almost" point in it's development. That is, it"almost" wins more than it loses. The problem seems to be that, generally speaking, if I draw land, I will win. If I get hosed one way or the other, I most assuredly will lose. Anyway, first the deck, then the strategy. Rath Cycle W/W(u) for analysis. Soltari Priest 4 Soltari Monk 4 Soltari Champion 4 Soltari Trooper 4 Cloudchaser Eagle 2 Mana Leak 4 Power Sink 4 Ertai's Meddling 2 Disenchant 2 Cataclysm 4 Mox Diamond 4 Island 9 Plains 13 Total: 62 (Yeah, yeah, I heard it already...) Sideboard: (Mostly brainless) Disenchant 2 Cloudchaser Eagle 2 COP: Red 3 Light of Day 3 Wall of Essence 3 Allay 2 Now, I usually play this type of deck with a "Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead" approach, but I've calmed down alot since then. The plan with this thing is to get a single critter out on turn one, courtesy of the Moxes, and then to back up everything with the counters, Disenchants, Cataclysm, etc... I've successfully pounded Living Fit 7 of the last 9 times, and that most annoying Trade-Awakening abomination 5-0 in current play testing. However, at the PTQ's, I can only manage 3-3! I can only attribute it to my land draws. If you kind Dojo folks have any advise, please, please, let it be known. Much thanks, Zopa (A.K.A. C. F.
