Subject: WylieOats, RATH Cycle ProsBloom Date: Wed, 23 Sep 1998 01:54:37 -0500 From: WylieBlows@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Sorry it has been a while since I have given you anything, Frank. I hope this makes up for it 8) I have come up with a very interesting deck for RATH cycle constructed, with the help of a late night car trip back from a tournament with most of Team Rogue. We were discussing the sealed deck lock which came up in the form of Scrivner + Evacuation. Can this be modified for constructed play? The key was Earthcraft, a beautiful little card. Originally, with thought the best help would come from Saphire Medallions, but they didn't make the final cut. The deck plays rather well, the Canopy Spiders and Walls of Blossems help out against swarm. The heavy mana and counterspells help agains counter decks, and a couple of the tricks help against Living Death decks. The standard Mazes help against shadow beat-down. Here is a list: 4 Power Sink 4 Canopy SPider 4 Wall of BLossem 4 Intuition 3 Scrivner 3 Evacuation 3 Earthcraft 3 Overgrowth 3 Reclaim 2 Scroll Rack 2 Counterspell 1 FOrbid 1 Time Warp 1 Capsize 4 Reflecting POol 4 Maze of shadows 7 Forests 7 Islands Basicly, your first Intuition should be for a Scrivner, then when you cast scrivner you get the Intuition back to get another piece of the puzzle. Slowly you build until you have an Earthcraft, an ISLAND with Overgrowth on it, and Scrivner and Evacuation. It seems like there are a lot of pieces, but each piece helps against speed decks. Eventually you get to a Wall or two, and you begin to draw more and more for each cycle of the combo. Having the Walls and the spiders are vital, not just because they are cheap blockers, but because they help turn Green mana into Blue mana, which you need. Once you begin the drawing cycle, you can get to your second Scrivner, get back an INtuition, and go get the Time Warp. Reclaiming the Time Warp each repetition along with the Evacuation will net you a couple of stored turns in a row. Then, beat down with the spiders and Scrivners. You can use the Reclaims and the Scroll Racks to keep from decking yourself. Originally the deck had a Kracklin in it. It went, Get up to 35 mana, cast Evacuation, cast Time Warp, Cast 20/20 Kracklin. Done. Untap, upkeep, draw, attack. Then we realized that the Kracklin was Superfluous. What do you think?
