Subject: Deck design to be shared with all the other Dojo fans Date: Fri, 25 Sep 1998 13:51:05 -0400 From: "dll1" To: B.Lieber A.K.A Genocide7 Mono-Blue MoM Bridge This deck, as I was wanting to use the full potential of MoM, was created in the pursuit of an original deck design not found in any tournaments or on any web page for others to copy, it was made for the enjoyment of cards never used by players because of the ridiculous back draws or stupid abilities. his deck was being made way before I actually receivded all the cards for it, and thus went through many changes before the final draft, which by the way, is about to get a new addition. But for now i would like to address the deck in itsformat as of now. The deck i created was made to utilize Mind over Matter in a Deck with Ensnaring Bridge. I had to go Mono-Blue because any other color got in the way of the MoM and couldnt counter the dangerous spells my opponent cast before i could lock, which evidentally this deck was able to do even against creatureless decks. Now this design was made for Rath constructed as of late, but can be adjusted to see fit for any environment . OK, lets get down to basics, this deck relys on the use of Mind over Matter and an Ensnaring Bridge combo, most will not see a combo at first glance. The deck should be played as a draw go deck with the occasional bridge or Null Brooch for quicker locks. Most people play Blue with the thought of hand size over the opponent, in other words card advanatge. This deck doesnt need the card advantage, all it needs is a bridge on the table with some kind of non counterspell interuptt, such as a broosh or Ertai; Wizard Adept. Another addition to the deck is the way it wins, with the use of Scalding Tongs or Thalakos Seers, or a library depletion in Grindstone The deck is as follows: Blue spells #of cards Counterspell X4 Mana Leak X4 Forbid X4 Ertai's Meddling X1 Evacuation X2 Blue Non-Creature Permanents Mind over Matter X2 Treasure Trove X2 Blue Creatures Ertai , Wizard Adept X1 Thalakos Seer X4 Artifacts Ensnaring Bridge X4 Null Brooch X2 Scalding Tongs X3 Sapphire Medallion X1 Lotus Petals X4 Mindless Automation X2 Grindstone X1 Lands Island X21 There is presently no sideboard because of lack of tournament use, but this doesnt restrict the deck in a tournament environment. This deck has shown full potential everytime it has been played and, as of late, has been subject to a total of 1 loss at the time of this publication. I have practiced against many different Rath cycle constructed decks that are prosperous in tournaments and have succeeded in all attempts. In any case, if this deck is to be used in a tournament environment, the sideboard may consist of creature removal and more control. I love the use of the many cards in the Rath cycle and hope to come up with more ideas for decks (I'm presently in the works of an all red Bridge lock deck). Until that time, i hope to be seeing this creation being used so as to get feed back on its flaws for better developement.
