Subject: [DECK] T2 Return of the forest people deck (B/G Living Death weenie rush deck) Date: Wed, 9 Sep 1998 19:13:08 EDT From: Batoc@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com [DECK] T2 Return of the forest people deck B/G Living Death weenie rush deck Submitted by: Steve Michaels Batoc@aol.com Here is my deck. It was constructed when Stronghold first came out, and it has remained strong. It has been adjusted from its original form to compensate for the changing meta-game: LANDS: 7x Forest 5x Swamp 3x Wasteland 2x Undiscovered Paradise 1x Volrath's Stronghold 1x Reflecting Pool MANA PRODUCING CREATURES: 3x Birds of Paradise 2x Wall of Roots 2x Hermit Druid (Great when combined with Living Death and Reclaim) CREATURES: 4x Spike Feeder (Great with Living Death as well) 3x Maro 4x Wall of Blossoms 2x Uktabi Orangutan (Anti-Cursed Scroll, Null Brooch, Ensnaring Bridge lock) 3x Fallen Angel (See Spike Feeder) 3x Nekrataal 2x Dauthi Horror 3x Bottle Gnomes (See Spike Feeder) SPELLS: 3x Living Death 2x Corpse Dance (If all else fails, dancing Gnomes or Feeders are always nice) 3x Diabolic Edict 2x Reclaim (Just in case all my Living Deaths end up in the graveyard from Hermit Druid) TOTAL: 60 Cards The mana base is pretty standard. I have lots of basic lands because this deck utilizes Hermit Druid. I also have Wall of Roots and Birds of Paradise to get to the crucial 5 mana mark that much quicker. From there I can cast every spell in the deck, including Fallen Angel, Spike Feeder, Living Death, and Corpse Dance with Buyback. The heavy amount of Spike Feeders and Bottle Gnomes are great against Sligh. Suicide Black decks have trouble with these creatures as well, and Fallen Angel has won me more games vs. Suicide Black than any other creature. White Weenie seems to be the deck that gives my deck the most trouble. The Dauthi Horrors are great against White Weenie, because these decks have trouble with speedy black shadow creatures that can't be blocked by white creatures. Against White Weenie, the Diabolic Edicts are reserved for Paladin en-Vec and early shadow creatures with Empyrial Armor. And as always, Living Death usually decides the game. I prefer this deck over the other Living Death decks I have seen, because it can perform very well without casting Living Death. Rather than relying on a few certain cards, such as Survival of the Fittest and Recurring Nightmare, I can be assured that I have an extremely solid creature base. If I get a chance to cast Living Death, I usually have won the game. I haven't submitted a sideboard yet. That is because I haven't finished playtesting this deck against the rest of the field yet. I need your feedback from my deck to start constructing one. If you have any ideas about my sideboard or about my deck, please e mail me at Batoc@aol.com. This usually gives me a big bonus, because many people are able to review my deck with suggestions.
