A few months ago, I put together a whole bunch of sacrificible critters in a deck on a lark, adding Disturbed Burial and Volrath's Stronghold to get 'em back. It worked okay, but was not quite effective enough for me to try in a tournament, so I let the idea slide. Then at Origins, I was playing in the Duelist team challenge with Henry Stern of WotC sitting opposite my teammate Sergio Costanza in Extended. Guess what Henry was playing? The same sacrificable critters with Oath of Ghouls! Of course! The Oath, which had not yet been in print when I had my version, was the *perfect* addition to the deck. With this deck, you can beat almost anything given a reasonable draw. The toughest deck it will face will be a WW with lots of pro red & black critters. Even so, a good draw can beat that as well. I'm calling it Henry's Revenge, since he was the first to try it with Oath of Ghouls. CRITTERS (28) 4 Mogg Fanatics 4 Acidic Slivers 2 Mindless Automatons 3 Serrated Biskelions 4 Orcish Settlers 4 Bottle Gnomes 2 Shadow Guildmages 2 Goblin Tinkerer 1 Stronghold Assassin 2 Mogg Assassin REMOVAL (5) 3 Incinerates 1 Slaughter 1 Firestorm CONTROL (4) 4 Oath of Ghouls LAND (23) 4 Sulphurous Springs 6 Swamps 10 Mountains 2 Reflecting Pools About the only thing the deck can't handle is Enchantments. Artifacts can be killed by the Goblin Tinkers, lands can be killed by the Orcish Settlers, big critters can (potentially) be killed by the Mogg Assassin and the Stronghold Assassin, small critters can be killed by the Acidic Slivers and the Mogg Fanatics and the Shadow Guildmage, and protection from whatever critters can be killed by the Serrated Biskelions. Best of all, whatever you lose is liable to come back next turn as you use the Oath. As long as you have more critters in the graveyard than your opponent, you can oath for whatever you need.
