Subject: [deck] Date: Mon, 20 Jul 1998 00:35:17 +0800 From: "Santi M. Dapul" To: since WOTC worked so hard to bring us sooo many different themes in the Rath cycle, here's an "everything but the kitchen sink" deck I worked out which actually goes better than 60/40 in casual play against the usual suspects (sligh and suiblack most notably). Slivers, licids, spikes, u name em, we got em. To the people who think this deck sucks: ever try incorporating everything about rath into one deck? it ain't pretty but it runs. Splash G, but I suppose one can do this for all the colors. Forget the furnace, here's Kitchen Sink of Rath 4 spike peaches (spike, life) 4 muscle slivers (mono sliver) 3 skyshroud elves (best mana critter, in rath that's not much is it?) 3 wall of blossoms (ahh exodus walls) 2 victual slivers (gold sliver) 2 soltari visionary (shadow, combo-hosing creature) 1 dominating licid (best licid) 1 tradewind rider (mr. bouncy) 1 mindless automaton (mr. discard, proof that exodus sux) 1 merfolk looter (token fish) 3 disenchant ("duh" card) 2 mana leak (countermagic) 2 peace of mind (2nd best enchantment) 2 oath of druids (best enchantment, oath) 2 cataclysm (mass wipe card, or would you rather have apocalypse?) 1 whispers of the muse (buyback) 1 mox (mana producer) 1 eladamri's vineyard (most misspelled card) 1 capsize (buyback, bouncy) 1 cursed scroll (dem crazy artifacts) - technically illegal in TSE, but I did say kitchen sink. can be null brooch. 1 sonic burst (token burn card, see automaton) 4 reflecting pools 3 skyshroud forest 3 city of brass (hey I gotta cast this stuff) - if you're strict TSE, replace these with: thalakos lowlands 2 undiscovered paradise rootwater depths 2 gemstone mine vec townships 3 forest 3 island 1 volrath's stronghold (mostly for the theme) so I gotta tell you how to run this deck? wall, wall, life, life, bounce em if u got em, great vs SRB, Sligh, Suiblack. Not so great against combo tech, though the Visionary slays panda decks. Prepare to sleep over vs. oath. like I said, it's supposed to be representative of the Rath cycle, not a killer deck, and shows Rath weaknesses as well as strengths. Try making one of your own, it's fun mental exercise. suggestions are welcome. p.rosales (mr_jetlag@hotmail.com)
