Subject: [DECK] UNLIMITED FUN Date: Wed, 17 Jun 1998 12:00:07 -0700 From: Kyle Curtis To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com UNLIMITED FUN by Kyle Curtis Without a doubt, this is the most enjoyable deck that I have ever played, as it offers a little something of everything -- creatures, direct damage, counters, burn and a wicked fun *unlimited* combo. In fact, even people who play against this deck love it. I*ve had guys asking me to stay around the card shop a little longer, just so they can get in a quick game against *that funky Intruder Alarm combo deck.* Yes, this is another Intruder Alarm combo deck, but it does have a number of differences: 1) It wins a lot. 2) It offers solid, balanced gameplay (for a combo deck). 3) It*s an original. (I was playing this deck long before the first Intruder Alarm combo was posted on The Dojo). 4) It has more *unlimited* combos, like: - unlimited mana production - unlimited pinging damage - unlimited burn damage - unlimited card drawing - unlimited bounce - unlimited creature generation, and - unlimited life gain Anyway, here*s the deck list. I*ll explain all the combos, after. (It should be noted that this deck was constructed after the Stronghold release, and it hasn't been playtested with many Exodus cards, yet. In fact, the only Exodus card it contains is a Thopter Squadron, which was an obvious improvement over the Spike Breeder.) UNLIMITED FUN The Deck (listed in cc order, by type) Creatures -- 27 total 4 Birds of Paradise (5th) 3 Llanowar Elves (5th) 3 Shrieking Drake (Vis) 4 Wall of Blossoms (Str) 2 Skyshroud Elves (Tem) 4 Rootwater Hunter (Tem) 2 Spike Feeder (Str) 4 Tradewind Rider (Tem) 1 Thopter Squadron (Exo) Land -- 18 total 9 Forest 6 Island 1 Skyshroud Forest (Tem) 1 Caldera Lake (Tem) 1 Reflecting Pool (Tem) Other -- 15 total 1 Searing Touch (Tem) 3 Mana Leak (Str) 1 Counterspell (Tem) 4 Intruder Alarm (Str) 2 Propaganda (Tem) 2 Intuition (Tem) 2 Fanning the Flames (Str) The Sideboard Metagame cards -- 10 total 4 Chill (Tem) 2 Disenchant (Tem) 2 Propaganda (Tem) 2 Scragnoth (Tem) Deck improvement cards -- 5 total 2 Alluren (Tem) 2 Awakening (Tem) 1 Overrun (Tem) And here are the combos: The three basic *unlimited* engines: 3 card engine: Alarm, Bird, Drake 4 card engine: Alarm, Thopter, 2 mana critters 6 card engine: Alarm, Rider, 1cc critter, mana critter, 2 other critters Unlimited ping (instant win): Hunter + unlimited engine Unlimited burn (instant win): Touch or Flames + mana critter + unlimited engine Unlimited card drawing (instant win -- draw until you get burn combo): Alarm, Rider, Wall, 2 mana critters, 2 other critters Unlimited bounce (opponent should concede): Rider + 2 critters + unlimited engine Unlimited creatures (opponent should concede): Alarm, Thopter, Rider, 2 mana critters (this combo also provides unlimited bounce) Unlimited life gain (opponent should concede): Alarm, Rider, Feeder, 3 mana critters, 2 other creatures And finally, some tips on playing this deck: 1) Remember that Intruder Alarm can be good defensively. 2) Counters are for emergency use only. 3) Use your burn whenever needed. 4) Don*t forget to attack. 5) Feeders do more than life gain. 6) Don*t try to *improve* this deck by adding non-splashable cards (ie. 4 Firewalkers instead of 4 Hunters), you probably won*t like the results.
