Subject: Rath Constructed -- Suicide Black Date: 16 Jun 1998 06:12:06 GMT From: aexia@u.washington.edu (Micheal Keane) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy This is the black deck I've been dinking around with. Naturally, it's geared towards a quick kill with Hatred, sort of. My playtesting found culling of the weak to be generally a dead card. I'd rather have a creature that can reliably beatdown on people with. So, the deck keeps aiming for the 2nd shadow, 3rd turn ritual/hatred kill instead. It should happen enough times. The rest of the deck is fairly fast weenie beatdown with endless scream for other unpleasant surprises(substitute for unholy strength). Edict for some amount of control and to get rid of blockers. Are Foul Imp and Carnophage bad or good with the Hatred? hmmm. I'll have to do more goldfish tests and see. 4 Dark Ritual 4 Hatred 4 Diabolic Edict 4 Endless Scream 4 Carnophage 4 Sarcomancy 4 Dauthi Horror 4 Dauthi Slayer 4 Foul Imp 4 Rats of Rath 20 Swamp Sideboard: 3 Bottomless Pit 3 Perish 3 Dread of Night 3 Dark Banishing 3 Wall of Souls There are other things I'd like to put in the sideboard. Megrim(with all the discard crap in Exodus). And I need some way of beating Light of Day because a 3rd turn kill isn't always going to happen and at some point, I'll get locked down. I'm thinking of 3 Brush with Deaths. It's sort of DD and lategame, it can be used every turn with buyback to kill my opponent(while simultaneously buying me extra time). What have other people used to beat Light of Day in mono-black? Necrologia was pretty good in earlier versions of the deck. Naturally, they aren't very compatible with hatred. But it was a good way to refill my hand. I think the Hatreds are better though. -- Micheal (Chris) Keane, Political Science, University of Washington Associate Professor of Psychogravitational Analysis, University of Ediacara Join the Church of Last Thursday and worship Queen Maeve! http://weber.u.washington.edu/~aexia/thursday.htm
