Subject: post-exodus deck (mind over matter) Date: Mon, 15 Jun 1998 22:31:01 -0700 (PDT) From: MiGueL To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Hey, just wanted to send in the deck I'm currently working with. I guess everyone saw how easily Mind Over Matter could be abused, and how broken it would have been at UUU3 (I mean, it would just be waaay too fast if it were only 3 blue). But anyways, the versions I've been seeing are either the tim+curiosity style (which I think is too slow and requires too many cards to be reliable, but it could work) or the torch/drain life version (which also doesn't work against sligh because it'll fireblast and incinerate til you're dead, unless you use drain life or rely on abeyance; still you run the risk of getting a draw). I still think running the opponent out of cards is a safer way to win, and it's just as easy. The current deck runs as follows: 4 Mind over Matters 4 Prosperities 4 Meditates 4 Impulses 4 Counterspells 3 Forbids 4 Propagandas 4 Pendrell Mists 3 Feldon's Canes 4 Mana Vaults 4 Lotus Vales 4 Svyelunite Temples 14 Islands Sideboard (just tossing out ideas): 4 Chills (to strengthen against red) 4 Abeyances (against other blues, might need something else vs. bouncy) 1 Drain Life (maybe to beat out someone with Canes or 200-card deck ;) ) don't know what else, maybe Disenchant... I'm assuming that everyone reading this is familiar with the way the deck works, much like ProsBloom. The deck's still rough, I'm unsure of how many Counterspells/Forbids would be perfect, and maybe 2 Canes are enough, but it seems to work pretty well right now, but it'll most likely change. From early testing, I've beaten Sligh almost all the time (usually by a single turn) as well as black weenie with and without Hatred. But these are early tests, maybe someone out there can find out what's really wrong with it. Well, just wanted to give my thoughts on the deck (Mind Over Matter's gonna be as big as ProsBloom, especially since it's mono-color!).
