Subject: [DECK] New Exodus Deck Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1998 16:03:09 -0600 (MDT) From: Michael Callahan To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com I've been playtesting with some of the new Exodus cards for a few days now, and this seems to be the best deck so far. Interestingly enough, it's GREEN of all colors! Well, really it's just an artifact deck with green for fast mana and a couple of good utility spells. Basically, it's an updated RTJ Vineyard deck. It's very controlly, which is strange since you play with no hand. I expect it will do very well against the general field. Once you get a Null Brooch down there are not many things that can mess you up. Things that would be a problem are WW with Aura of Silence, Uktabi Orangutans, and some other nuisance creatures that can't be killed with Cursed Scroll. Anyway, here's the deck: Deck Core ---------------- Null Brooch Ensnaring Bridge Cursed Scroll Eladamri's Vineyard Fast Mana --------- Birds of Paradise Wall of Roots Survival/Stall -------------- Wall of Blossoms Bottle Gnomes Spike Feeder Artifact/Enchantment Removal ---------------------------- Uktabi Orangutan Disenchant Library Manipulation -------------------- Sylvan Library Gaea's Blessing Enlightened Tutor Graveyard Manipulation ---------------------- Treasure Hunter Cartographer Potential Sideboard Items ------------------------- Disrupting Scepter Cursed Totem Shattering Pulse Allay Peace of Mind Pyroblast Hydroblast Warmth CoP: Red Elephant Grass Lifeforce It should also be possible to build a green fatty creature version. take out the Ensnaring Bridges and play Jackalopes or something similar. I don't expect that version of the deck to do as well in general though, it seems to have less synergy that way. Here's a sample implementation of the deck: Sample Deck =========== 4 Eladamri's Vineyard 4 Birds of Paradise 3 Wasteland 3 Gemstone Mine 3 City of Brass 10 Forest 4 Null Brooch 4 Ensnaring Bridge 4 Cursed Scroll 4 Wall of Blossoms 4 Spike Feeder 4 Bottle Gnomes 3 Sylvan Library 2 Gaea's blessing 2 Enlightened Tutor 2 Disenchant Note: Wall of Blossoms can replace Wall of Roots if preferred. Note: No sideboard yet because deck popularities are still unknown. Michael Callahan callahan@xmission.com
