Subject: Post-Exodus CounterPhoenix Date: Sun, 7 Jun 1998 14:15:12 EDT From: BRYGUY888@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com [DECK] Hi, this is Bryan Paris, or BRYGUY888@aol.com, with my Post-Exodus kick-booty CounterPhoenix/Hammer deck. Here it is: 4 Counterspell 4 Dismiss 4 Forbid (1UU, Counterspell, buyback: discard 2 cards) 2 Dissipate 2 Mana Flare 2 Shard Phoenix 1 Hammer of Bogardan 3 Incinerate 1 Ertai, Wizard Adept (2U, Summon Legend, 1/1, 2UU, T: Counterspell) 1 Treasure Trove 1 Fanning the Flames 1 Fireball 2 Nevinyrral's Disk 2 Lobotomy 1 Whispers of the Muse 1 Intuition 2 Capsize 2 Mind Stone 1 Feldon's Cane 1 Undiscovered Paradise 1 Caldera Lake 1 Reflecting Pool 1 Cinder Marsh 12 Island 9 Mountain Sideboard: 2 Havoc 2 Dwarven Miner 2 Earthquake 2 Hydroblast 2 Pyroblast 2 Thunderbolt 3 Fade Away (2U, Sorcery, each player pays 1 for each creature they control or sacrifices a permanent) This deck is very strong. It can take out sligh with the sideboard stuff, Miner is there for 5 color decks, Thunderbolt can kill Tradewinds, and blasts are self-explanatory. The main deck counters everything, then drops Mana Flare. Using buyback spells, the deck draws a bunch of cards, which can be used to buy back Forbid. Intuition gets Phoenixes and Hammer, and Disk resets if stuff isn't going your way. Ertai is good as he can tap to counterspell, but his legendary status makes it so there can be only one. Treasure Trove + Mana Flare = 7 cards per turn, and Mind Stone makes it so you can cast Forbid, Hammer, or Phoenix without taking burn from Flare. Cane resets if you run out of cards. If you have any comments/questions, e-mail me at BRYGUY888@aol.com. Thanks!
