Subject: Type 2 Deck Submission Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 13:50:31 EDT From: Bemand@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Type 2 Deck Deane Beman's Box of Rain ***The author names all of his decks after Grateful Dead songs*** Land (20): 2 Cities of Brass 3 Gemstone Mines 2 Reflecting Pools 7 Forests 3 Islands 3 Plains Artifacts (4): 3 Lotus Petals Green Spells (14): 4 Quirion Elves 4 Llanowar Elves 2 Aluren 2 Reclaim 2 Gaea's Blessing 2 Harrow Blue Spells (15): 3 Intruder Alarms 3 Shrieking Drake 3 Man O' War 2 Rootwater Hunter 2 Prodigal Sorcerer 2 Suq'ata Firewalker White Spells (6): 4 Soul Warden 2 Contemplation This deck wins in a couple of different ways. The obvious is the Intruder Alarm/Tim combo. There are two ways to get this working. The first is get out the Intruder Alarm, any Tim, and the Quirion Elves. (Make sure you always set the Quirion Elves for blue). Cast the Shrieking Drake and return it to your hand for the infinite ping. The Drake coming into play will untap the elves, allowing you to repeat the process until your opponent is dead. (With two Llanowar Elves and the Quiron Elves, you could use a Man O' War instead of a Drake.) The second route to victory is to have the exact same combo as above, but with a Soul Warden or a Contemplation in play instead of the pinger. Infinite Life! Finally, an Aluren in play with either of the above will net the same results. The deck could move faster with Impulses (and with the reclaim & the blessing it doesn't matter what goes into your graveyard) but I haven't found a way to make room for them yet. Even without the Cities of Brass & Reflecting Pools..you can get by quite nicely with 3 Gemstones, 7 Forests, 6 Islands & 4 Plains. Deane Beman
