Subject: Steel Pox [Type 2 Deck] Date: Mon, 27 Jul 1998 17:23:28 EDT From: ZeeJustin@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Here is a deck of great power that is strong for many reasons, one being its lack of popularity. This is a deck that I have playtested much. It can beat every deck but has a lot of trouble with tradewind riders cad bloom and shattering pulse. I have seen this deck win tourney after tourney [by its creater, Abe Coroson] and I have won game after game with this deck on Apprentice. I think this deck should be added to the decks to beat list because it is such a killer deck. Well here it is. STEEL POX [a.k.a el negro] by Justin Bonomo Mana Sources 18 swamps 2 quicksands 3 charcoal diamonds 2 mind stones 25 Removal 2 Spinning Darknesses [was that a ball lightning i saw?] 4 funeral charms [was that another ball lightning i saw?] 4 diabolic edicts 2 Dark Banishings 2 Drain Life 4 Stupors 4 Pox 3 Ensnaring Bridges 25 Damage 2 Scalding Tongs 4 Steel Golems [hence the name] 4 Cursed Scrolls 10 [also 6 in removal section] SIDEBOARD 2 Bottle Gnomes [Sligh/burn] can be a slight problem 1 Spinning Darkness [see above] 3 Forsaken Wastes [Crushes control decks, especially oath of druids] 2 Perish [Green is getting popular] 4 Cursed Totom [was that a tradewind rider?] 3 Gloom [5 mana for a disenchant] STRATEGY Ok, Ok i know the first thing you see, an anti card advantage deck. ERRR WRONG! This deck is a control deck that has two common ways of winning. 1. Steel Golem beatdown. Remove all of your opponents threats and simply overrun your opponent with a 3/4 beast. If you see this is the easiest way to win then do not play the early bridge. 2. Artifact Beatdown. Either romve all threats or lay a bridge and empty your hand. Then use cursed scrolls and scalding tongs to win. This is a semi-complicated deck to play. You must understand that THIS IS NOT A BRIDGE DECK. It uses the bridges but it does not rely on them. This deck can easily remove all creature threats. Again I think this is the strongest deck right now in the current t2 environment and I think it should be on the decks to beat list. This deck was created by Abe Coroson and edited by Justin Bonomo [ME]. If you have any questions/comments please, by all means email ZeeJustin@aol.com. I will be happy to help you with your questions.
