Subject: Opposing Deck Themes!?!? Date: 21 Jul 1998 03:20:14 GMT From: Allan Moon Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy I was watching a match at the local gaming store between the 13th worst Magic Player in the world (by rating), Tom Whittimore, and Dennis Bently. Thanks to mana screw, Tom won! But Dennis shouldn't have ran only 21 islands in a blue deck. Anyway, that is not what this post is about. Tom's white weenie deck had 4 Emperial Armor and 3-4 Firestorm. I tried this once in a white weenie deck when I finally got 3 Storms myself and deemed it stupid. Since Tom is a sub-par player (no offense Tom if you're reading this) I suspected that he didn't notice or care about the lack of synergy between these two cards. Then I just saw a deck to beat on the Dojo with 4 of each!! I don't get it! Here's the deck: 4 Soltari Priest 4 Soltari Monk 4 White Knight 4 Warrior en-Kor 4 Paladin en-Vec 4 Firestorm 4 Disenchant 4 Empyrial Armor 2 Cataclysm 4 Tithe 4 Mox Diamond 4 Wasteland 2 Gemstone Mine 3 Undiscovered Paradise 9 Plains Sideboard: 2 Honorable Passage 2 Aura of Silence 4 Pyroblast 4 Sleight of Mind 3 Knight of the Mists Standard WW with Clysm instead Geddon. Can someone please explain the theory behind the choice to use both cards? -Todd Moon
