Subject: Magic Deck to Workshop Date: Mon, 20 Jul 1998 02:01:12 PDT From: "Tiago Costa" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com This is the first time i constructed a deck that works, not because i dont know how to make them, but because my ideas are absolutely INSANE. My decks are always made to drive your opponent to the limits of insanity, thats why Blue is my favorite color, its absolutely great to annoy my oponnent. I dont like those decks that come out fast n furous, way to boring, ending a game in a couple of turns, BORING i say BORING... A much better idea is to counterspell him to death and decking him to end the match, but i wanted something more daring, a blue decking deck, Been there, done that, what about a GREEN/BLACK DECKING DECK... now that would be great. I began this deck as Blue/White, but white was only there because of disenchants, so it wouldnt take long for me to replace white per black, which had more cards to help decking your opponente than white, but blue was too slow and like i said before Blue decking deck, BORING, so i change blue to Green and added alot of artifacts, such as Ensnaring bridge, Scroll Rack, Altar of dementia and of course GrindStone, to replace the propagandas, the reins of power among others. As i had the altar of dementia of my deck i needed large creatures to go to the graveyard and reducing is deck, but those king of creatures were absolutely impossible to get on the table before the fifth, six turn, and by then i was already shuffling for the next duel, after being crushed. So one day i was thinking (u know sometimes truth is REALLY stranger than fiction) and i realized tha there were creatures tahta could trade +1/+1 counters among then and one in particular was able of tranforming +1/+1 counters on +2/+2 counters until the end of the turn, and those guys were then my choice, SPIKES. Really great combined with the altar of dementia, but still they were to slow to get in the table, by then i was almost giving up on the deck, but i realized that the problem had its solution rigth under my nose, my favorite card on the game ELADAMRI'S VINEYARD, i added up a couple and BLAM it worked, much more easy to get the big guys on the table. By now the deck was getting some sort of shape, but it was always the same thing i run out of spikes every game, this is were black came into scene, tree coffin queens, two linving deaths and a Volraths StrongHold got my babies out of the graveyard really fast. One problem down but another around... After testing the deck against red i got burned alot, so i had only two options, gain amounts of life like a maniac or counterspell his burn spells somehow, so i went for the first, gain life like a maniac, i got 4 spkife feeders, 4 bottle gnomes (both great with the queens and the stronghold), 4 natural springs, 2 volraths gardens and the problem was solved. And finnaly the deck looked like this: "The vines of insanity" also named "The Vineyard garden of those springs, that help the spikes reproduce and return when they go to the coffin by the hands of their queen and then its always living death, and the altar of gristones garded by bottle gnomes inside of voraths stronghold and something else that goes with this" Green: 4 x Eladamris Vineyard 4 x Natural Spring 2 x Volraths Gardens 4 x Spike feeder 4 x Spike Soldier 4 x Spike Colony --------------------------22 Black: 2 x Living Death 3 x Coffin queen --------------------------5 Artifacts: 4 x Ensnaring bridge 1 x Scroll rack 3 x GrindStone 3 x Altar of dementia 4 x Bottle Gnomes --------------------------15 Land: 1 x Volrath stronghold 3 x Pine barrens 4 x Swamps 10 x Forest --------------------------18 Sideboard: Not made up yet, but working on it... Try this deck, improve it the post it. I think it could be a solid deck, i havent tested enough to say that but its working for me, i the next Rath cicle tornement i go i will be using it. I dont care if u dont like it, and feel free to say it and help me improve my deck i just want to have a good time playing MAGIC this summer... Have fun and dont trade your soul for a cursed scroll, cuz the card isnt worth that and belive me its worth alot less. ps.
