Subject: The Sarcobouncy Concept Date: Sat, 18 Jul 1998 05:47:15 GMT From: sparky@militia-watchdog.org (Mark Pitcavage) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy I've been having tremendous fun recently with a superfast blue-black deck designed to get some creatures out very quickly and then use every trick in the book to slow down your opponent just enough that they can't deal with the onslaught. Here is the basic deck (I'm still working on sideboard concepts and would appreciate suggestiongs). Deckname: Sarcobouncy Deck Type: Black/Blue Bounce/Weenie Number of Cards: 60 Creatures: Carnophage (4) Sarcomancy (4) Fallen Askari (4) Dauthi Marauder (2) Erg Raiders (4) Man-o-War (4) Other: Capsize (2) Boomerang (2) Hesitation (2) Diabolic Edict (4) Unsummon (1) Mana Sources: Islands (8) Swamps (11) Lotus Petal (4) Dark Ritual (4) I'm pleased with the way the cards work together. Originally I had 4 Capsizes in it, but I realized that for the purposes of this deck, Boomerangs were practically as good, and much speedier. I kept two Capsizes because of the possibility of using one twice in a turn, should a game (ack) last that long. Note that Capsize and Boomerang can not only be used against your opponent's permanents, but also against Sarcomancy, allowing you to recast it and create another 2/2 zombie token. More than once I have been able to do something like the following on the first turn: Swamp, lotus petal, dark ritual, Carnophage, Sarcomancy, Erg Raiders. Having six points worth of creatures out on the first turn is pure heaven. Your opponent is unlikely to be able to respond effectively on his first turn. On your next turn you might well be able to cast hesitation to slow him down further while your army of the dead simply chews up his shopping mall. Any permanents he gets out, you bounce back. I've actually found that this deck works well against almost any other kind of deck because it is just so fast. Sideboard cards I'm testing include substituting some knights for use against white decks, some dark banishings and more creature removal (esp. against wall of blossoms, etc.), cursed scrolls for the endgame, etc. One thing I am a little concerned about are sligh decks, but the bouncing does upset the sligh curve. Well, I posted this because I'm having fun with it and haven't come across other people using this concept (although I've seen mono suicide black decks which are not dissimilar). I'm interested very much in suggestions, discussions. Dr. Mark Pitcavage, sparky@militia-watchdog.org The Militia Watchdog: Http://www.militia-watchdog.org
