Subject: Tournament Deck Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 08:49:52 PDT From: "Kenshin Himura" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Hello, I wanted to contribute a deck idea to the site... Just because. First of all, I like mono-color decks, so guess what this? That's right. Well, let's cut to the chase. 20 Islands 4 Quicksands 4 Counterspells 4 Dissepates 2 Mana Leaks 2 Forbids 2 Dismiss 2 Wall of Tears (If you prefer Wall of Air, that's fine) 2 Propagandas 2 Ophidians 2 Rainbow Efreets (I don't like Waterspout Djinn, but if you like him) 3 Suq'Ata Firewalkers 2 Sea Sprites 2 Capsize 4 Brainstorms 2 Binding Grasps 1 Whispers of the Muse My Sideboard: (White weenie, green weenie, and red are very popular here...) 4 Underground Rivers 4 Chills 4 Dread of Night 2 Perish 1 Evacuation Well, that's it. There's really several ways to win, I never really win the same way every time. You will usually take some damage in the beginning, but don't sweat it. When you get the Propagandas and the Walls out, things start looking differently. They have a cool creature? Binding Grasp it. Did that to a Silver Queen, opponent almost went into shock. Anything you don't like, counter it off. Use the Forbids to pitch unwanted cards from the hand (i.e. later in the game you draw land you don't need...) The Firewalkers are nasty against a weenie... Or I can prick them to death, did that too. Usually I bring out the Efreet, by that time I have a massive defense, that's game. Edict? Phase him. Terror? Phase him. Burn? Phase him. Wrath of God? Phase him. Coolest thing I did so far is some guy played an Armageddon deck... In response I casted evacuation and phased out my Efreet. He was screwed. Didn't have to waste a Counter... The most trouble this deck has had is against Green speed. The Wall of Tears saved me. Then the Firewalkers came in. Game. Very simple deck. Just know what to counter and what not to counter, remember you can always Capsize/counter also. Thinking of putting Floods in there, but didn't know what to take out. Burn will usually beat you down the first game, unless the Firewalkers and Sea Sprites come out early. Cursed Scroll should always meet a Dissepate... Just because it's a Cursed Scroll. Needless to say, Bottle Gnomes and Crypt Rats should meet the same demise. Once you Dissepate all the Rats, Black has a hard time... I played four Crypt Rat decks and Dissepated the heck out them and they lost easily. No sideboarding involved. Good times.
