Subject: no waste Date: Wed, 8 Jul 1998 11:54:48 +0100 From: "Egelhof, Tobias" To: "'Magic Dojo'" Hello Frank! Finally, after dozens of mails and as many testgames, here is the currently strongest version of the deck I call "Nothing Wasted". It started with the idea of combining Altar of Dementia, Tombstone Stairwell and a deck filled with creatures for devastating token madness to kill and mill. With the right creatures this deck evolved to a creature-based control deck with the Altar-Stairwell-combo as surprising finisher (if necessary). Almost every card in it works by itself and in combination with most other cards, so you always have the right draw (nothing wasted). The mana is well balanced, so you won't have problems with that, but before I speak too long, here's the deck: Land: 6 Swamp 3 Island 7 Forest 3 Bad River 3 Gemstone Mine 2 Volrath's Stronghold Green: 4 Wall of Blossoms 3 Birds of Paradise 2 Uktabi Orangutan Blue: 3 Tradewind Riders 3 Man'O'War 2 Thalakos Mistfolk 2 Ancestral Knowledge Black: 3 Tombstone Stairwell 2 Nekrataal 2 Dauthi Horror 1 Dauthi Mercenary 1 Revenant Artifact: 4 Bottle Gnomes 1 Serrated Biskelion 3 Altar of Dementia Sideboard: 4 Tranquil Domain (Enchantments !!!) 3 Mana Leak (Armageddon, WoG) 2 Scragnoth (Blue) 3 Dread of Night (White) 2 Uktabi Orangutan (Artifact) 1 Jester's Cap (Combo decks) The Volrath's Stronghold is the keycard for game-control. Along with the Tradewinds you get the advantage needed to win. Bounce or use the Stronghold to cast your come-into-play-aktion creatures multiple times until the combination or a shadow hits the table and then finish. The Ancestral Knowledges help much to find cards, especially after sideboarding :-), and bouncing it it much fun, plus you can remove cards not needed (mostly lands in late game). Problems are Armageddons and Jokulhaups, sideboard the Mana Leaks for that. The deck contains many secrets and combinations and is pretty strong, when played right. This is really a deck to beat!
