Subject: 2 Decks for the workshop Date: Tue, 7 Jul 1998 13:46:10 EDT From: Warbean2@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Looking over the Exodus cards, I decided that I liked the Oaths the best. Except for the red one, all of them seem very playable and I resolved to design a few decks around them. Here is the first: (strategy to follow) "My Oath) 4 Oath of Druids 2 Gerrard's Wisdom 2 Wrath of God 2 Spike Hatcher 4 Disenchant 3 Gaea's Blessing 4 Spike Feeder 2 Rootbreaker Wurm 1 Call of the Wild 3 Sylvan Library 2 Mulch 3 Scroll Rack 3 Cataclysm 4 Warrior Angel 9 Plains 7 Forest 4 Brushland Basically the idea is to play defensively at first. Get out an early feeder, library or rack for that card advantage thing. If you get out the library or rack, you can use the Oath of Druids to get out a Warrior Angel or some other fatty the next turn. (Sac the feeders for life if necessary) When you have the advantage, Cataclysm to finish the game. Mulch+Scroll Rack/ Sylvan library lets you get a shuffle effect, equivalent to getting a new hand. Wisdom after that for maybe 16-20 life. Gaea's Blessing will do the same, and works well with Mulch or the Oath. This is a very strong deck against the current decks in Standard. For the sideboard, I recommend 4 Aura of Silence, 3 Bottle Gnomes and your favorite Black and Blue hosers. Deck#2 "Feedin' the Hounds" 20 Swamp 2 Black Knight 2 Dauthi Cutthroat 2 Living Death 4 Dark Ritual 4 Drain Life 1 Fallen Askari 2 Necrologia 1 Keeper of the Dead 1 Crypt Rats 2 Sewer Rats 2 Dauthi Horror 4 Dauthi Slayer 2 Dauthi Embrace 3 Mind Maggots 4 Oath of Ghouls 4 Vampire Hounds 1 Nevinyrral's Disk This deck revolves alot around the Vampire Hounds/Mind Maggots + Oath of Ghouls combo. Get out a hounds and discard a bunch of your creatures (over 20 in deck) for maybe 8 damage. Get a creature back during your upkeep, use Dauthi Embrace to make your creatures unblockable, and maybe a Keeper of the Dead or a Dauthi Cutthroat+Embrace for creature control. When your deck seems to be petering out, use Necrologia to refill your hand, or Living Death to renew the asault. This is a tournament quaility deck, and can concievably take on the deck listed above. ~Warren Ko
