Subject: Shah's MGM Date: Thu, 2 Jul 1998 03:00:25 -0700 From: "Neil Shah" To: Please post in Deck Workshop, mono-green deck Here's the new mono-green deck with TARGETED CREATURE REMOVAL. Yes, you read it right, it's time for green to kick some butt. The formula? Transmogrifying Licid + Uktabi Orangutan/Creeping Mold = Dead creature. Altogether the cards will help you take out artifacts, enchantments, and creatures. I've said it before: Green is the most flexible color (Blue's pretty good too). Shah's MGM (Mono Green Monster) Creatures (24) 4 Transmogrifying Licid 4 Uktabi Orangutan 3 Stampeding Wildebeests 4 Wall of Blossoms 2 Wall of Roots 1 Mirri, Cat Warrior 2 Spike Feeder 2 Tempting Licid 2 Nurturing Licid Spells (16) 3 Creeping Mold 4 Wild Growth 3 Giant Growth 1 Overrun 2 Gaea's Blessing 2 Song of Serenity 1 Hurricane Land (20) 15 Forest 4 Quicksand 1 Maze of Shadows SB (15) 3 Choke 3 Scragnoth 3 Natural Springs 3 Emerald Charm 3 Llanowar Elves (vs. LD, particularly Armageddon) This is green creature destruction/paralysis, which I don't think I've seen before (apologies if anyone came up with this before, but I was pretty psyched when it just came to me). The deck is already set to fight against any creature deck. Between Walls and Quicksands/Maze of Shadows, I can stop the early creature rush while I get the licids in place; then I start destroying or cast Song of Serenity to immobilize them. It may have some problems vs. blue control, but combo decks have no prayer against 4 Sex Monkeys, 3 Creeping Molds, and 3 Emerald Charms. Interesting notes: o There's no Elves in the main deck; I found them too flammable, and I have to rely on getting the mana out; they're in the SB vs. any type of LD, because that's where Wild Growth starts to suck. o There's no anti-black in the SB; I use licids instead. I figure the deck already has the best protection it can have: pop the licids onto their creatures (or your transmog licids) during perish, then retrieve and start recycling those creatures while you block with your regenerating licids. o No centaurs! Can't target them with my licids or Giant Growths. Green Mages! Tell me what you think. Have we finally overcome Perish and achieved some sort of creature control? Play the deck, and you can be the judge! I welcom all comments, because I really want to make this deck work. Thanks. Neil Shah clearblue@worldnet.att.net
