Buckton" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Like several others, I also came up with a limted resources lock deck. 2 other people and myself worked it out online. The first version was a 4c deck that relied on red for land destruction, blue for counter, green for WoB and harrow/hermit druid/etc, and white for the resources/disenchant. After some work and a little playtesting we came up with a Rath Cycle deck (im sure there are many changes for a t2 deck) using limited resources for a lock. It's 3 colors GWU LRLock White 4 Limited Resources [EX] - The Lock 2 Disenchant [TP] - Anti Disk, etc - 6 White Cards Green 3 Harrow [TP] - Need to put out as much land as possible 3 Rampant Growth [TP] - Same NOTE: originally I used hermit druids in this deck however w/o gaea's blessing its not as useful as the Wood Elves for gaining land. (wood elves put land into play hermit druids put land into your hand) Thus beating the limited resources 'Cannot play land' effect 4 Wood Elves [EX] - Effective 1Gcc and you get a land? Definately 2 Reclaim [EX] - Don't want to deck myself (reclaim a reclaim?) 3 Winter's Grasp [TP] - LD 1 Nature's Revolt [TP] - Kill Card :) (always back it up with counters or a reclaim to get it back 4 Wall of Blossoms [SH] - 'Oh no not sligh!' and 'get the lock card' (once you lock out the land, use a tradewind to bounce it back into your hand, cast it, then get a new card :) - 20 Green Cards Blue 3 Intuition [TP] - Get those resources, etc (remember 2 cards and a reclaim work almost as well) 3 Tradewind Rider [TP] - LD, Creature Removal, etc :) 2 Capsize [TP] - As above 2 Mana Leak [SH] - With the lock that extra 3 mana is hard to come by 2 Propaganda [TP] - Protection 2 Forbid [EX] - Why not? you'll have extra cards - 14 Blue Cards Land 7 Island 9 Forest 4 Plains - 20 Land Cards - 60 Cards Total If the deck works right, you can almost get a 2 to 1 lead on land fast. a First turn limited resources backed up by rampant growth, harrow, wood elves, etc will speed up the lock.
